Letter from the Editor
by Amy McWilliams
Welcome to the General Hospital Review!
Phew! It's been a busy month around here, what with school getting started
for us grad students and the moms with kids. We apologize again for the delay,
and will do our best to get back on schedule with the October issue. We do aim
to get the issues out in the first 5 days of each month, but we appreciate your
patience. This is an amateur endeavor, done in our spare time, and sometimes we
don't have as much time to spare for it as we'd like.
But we do have some good stuff for you this month, including a full month
of "GH in Review" (and yes, we're behind there too, but we'll be trying to catch
up to our usual 2 months behind the current episodes by the end of the year, so
please bear with us) as well as two intriguing articles by our editors. First,
Arda Clark brings us a follow-up to an article she did on Luke Spencer last year.
This time, it's "Luke as Hipster," and you won't want to miss her insightful argument.
For her part, Terry offers up a look at the early scenes of Stefan and Chloe in
her column, "Small Things." We've also got three pages of goodies for you in "Say
Cheese!", as well as featured webpages.
Next month begins our third volume and third year of the GHR, and we'll
be trying to get some new ideas up and running in honor of the occasion.
So enjoy, and if you're back in school, take a break with us!
GH in Review
by Amy McWilliams
This month's review covers the month of May on GH. The transcript
page is missing a few episodes in the middle of the month again, but our discussion
and the outline of events should fill in the gaps. I'll be trying to play catch
up a bit in the months ahead, and look for a fun addition to the review in the
near future.
As always, thanks go to the GH
Transcripts Page. I depend on it as well as the daily updates from the official
ABC website and r.a.t.s.a. Thanks also to everybody on the GH side
of the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.tv.soaps.abc for their discussion of the show,
and to the other editors, whose discussion always informs my own opinions and
makes the show so much more fun to watch.

A Study in Character: Luke Spencer, Hipster
by Arda Darakjian Clark
Arda's back with another smart and convincing, unusal and insightful take
on her favorite character (and mine), Luke Spencer. This time, Arda comes at Luke
by way of Norman Mailer to demonstrate that, while an existentialist, Luke is
also a hispter.
A Study in Character
Small Things: Stefan and Chloe
by Teresa Leslie
Teresa Leslie's column focuses on the small, seemingly insignificant things
on GH. When noticed and considered, however, these little details illuminate
many things about the characters and plots. This month, Terry examines the initial
scenes that Stefan and Chloe have shared together as she speculates on their potential
relationship.

Say Cheese!
Along with a new selection of wallpaper, we've got scans and more screen
captures for you this time around. Check it out, and let us know if you have requests
for future features!

Featured Websites
This time around, we're featuring two great sites I had never seen before.
Both feature Sonny and Carly, but since they're currently up front in a big storyline,
the timing was right.
First up, the Maurice Benard Connection. This site offers show history, photos,
multimedia, interaction, and even information on getting yourself some tapes of
Sonny's past storylines and Benard's interviews. There's more, but I can't list
it all The material here is up to date with Carly, and goes back through the days
of Brenda and Karen. All of this, and the page looks fabulous too.

Next, another Sonny and Carly site. Also nicely designed, Wicked Games features
various photo galleries; a library of transcripts, articles, quotes, fanfic, and
more; multimedia; and links, chatrooms, and a message board.

As always, if you would like to recommend a site for recognition in a future
issue, you can do so at the feedback form.
