Jax and Chloe:

  • Chloe writes in her journal about her symptoms, as Tony asked her to do. She falls asleep in the chair and has another nightmare. Jax gets out of bed to come find her and awakens her. When he wants to call Tony, she shows him the journal. He realizes that Chloe has been having awful headaches, but hasn't been telling him about the pain. They come to a bargain about telling the truth. (4/4)
  • Tony meets with Chloe and Jax. The treatments aren't going as well as he hoped they would. Chloe decides that she wants to see the world, in case she's not able to see it later. (4/5)
  • Jax realizes that Edward has taken a company away from him without him knowing about it. Jax pays Edward a call, while Chloe has another nightmare. Jax tells Chloe he'll get to work on the plane. Chloe tells him that they can postpone their trip until after he makes his move against Edward. (4/6)
  • Jax prepares for battle. (4/10)
  • Jax and Chloe have dinner with Ned and Alexis, but sit with the right people this time. They discuss Edward. Mike and Tammy arrive for a date, and the ex-mixed-marrieds announce their divorces. Later, the boys go to take and make phone calls, and Chloe tells Alexis about canceling their trip. Ned realizes Jax's business call was about Chloe, and Jax fills him in. Ned now knows why he's going after Edward. Later, as Chloe and Jax talk about the ELQ deal upstairs, Ned and Alexis talk about it in their hotel room. Ned suspects that Jax will go after ELQ. (4/11)
  • Chloe leaves Jax on a business call as she goes to work at L&B. There she finds Edward and Ned talking. Later, she returns to the penthouse to find AJ there. Jax doesn't give Chloe the details about his business dealings with AJ, and she starts to suspect that he's after more than a proportional response. (4/12)
  • Chloe and Jax agree to separate business lives, but she's worried about AJ and so asks him over for a chat. When he's gone, Jax tells her that he's offered to buy AJ's shares of ELQ. (4/13)

I. Telling Lies (4/4)

Jax: "Why didn't you tell me that you were in so much pain?"
Chloe: "For the same reason you've been holding back with me, because this is hard enough on you."
Jax: "The worst thing you can do is pretend. We can't live like that, not together."

Chloe: "I live here because I want to share my life with you, too. But you can't cure this thing in my head or my eyesight, Jax. This is my illness, and I have to deal with this."
Jax: "Yes, but not in secret. Ok, the fact that the pain is worse, that is crucial information once I start my search for specialists and new medications--"
Chloe: "Ok, speaking of not pretending--I know that you started that search weeks ago. You can't tell me that those calls you've been fielding from the Swiss laboratories have anything to do with your line of work. Do they?"
Jax: "No, I've been putting feelers out there. There's nothing wrong with that."
Chloe: "You know, it just makes me feel pressure to be better. It makes me feel like I can't show you my fear. God knows, I want to be better, Jax. I do not want to go blind, but I might. And I don't know that being with a blind woman is going to work for you."

Chloe: "I'm not losing hope. I just want you to be honest with me. I might go blind. How do you feel about that?"
Jax: "Like I truthfully--I don't know what that's going to be like. Ok, all I know is whatever happens to your vision, I will still love you because you will still be Chloe."
Chloe: "But will I? What I see and what I draw makes me who I am, all those things I enjoy doing. Those things might change. Won't I be a different person?"
Jax: "You're asking us to predict things that we can't. And I won't look ahead and envision problems that are not there."
Chloe: "Is it wrong to be prepared?"
Jax: "We can't be prepared for this, Chloe. Ok, we have to take this one day at a time. We have to enjoy it one day at a time. Life."
Chloe: "I just want you to know that you don't have to stay."
Jax: "I want to stay. How can I make you understand that? We haven't run out of options here, Chloe. Besides, I'm falling more and more in love with you every day. Call me crazy, but I am."
Chloe: "Crazy."
Jax: "Yeah, crazy in love with you."
Chloe: "All I want is for you to just keep loving me as long as you can. And if it stops--hey--I just want you to tell me."
Jax: "Ok. And I will expect the same from you, madam."
Chloe: "Ok."
Jax: "You ready to go to bed?"
Chloe: "No. Not yet."

II. Chloe Plans to See the World, Or At Least Part of Northern Europe (4/5)

Chloe: "Prepare to be kidnapped."
Jax: "Where are we going?"
Chloe: "St. Petersburg. I've always wanted to see it. The palaces there are made of pink and green marble. Can you imagine? I thought we could start in Russia, and then we could go to Sweden and Finland and Norway."
Jax: "What happened?"
Chloe: "It's just been too long since Karl and Sigrid have cut loose. We are going to have an amazing time. St. Petersburg is a fairy tale city. All that art and architecture. And if we're lucky, we'll even see the northern lights."
Jax: "Chloe, listen--"
Chloe: "The northern lights are supposed to be so beautiful. They light up the sky like sheets of flame, and you can watch them for hours sometimes."
Jax: "The medicine isn't working, is it?"
Chloe: "No."
Jax: "Hey."

Chloe: "You know, can we just not talk about the pills and new drugs? I just want to think about palaces and museums filled with paintings and sailing through fjords."
Jax: "Don't talk like it's a done deal."
Chloe: "I am just being realistic. If I only have a few months left to see, I don't want to be looking at a hospital room, ok? I want to see Northern Europe with you. Or does that not work into your plans to manage my illness?"

Jax: "I don't want to manage your illness, Chloe. I want to support you."
Chloe: "Then come with me. I never really saw Rome until I saw it with you."
Jax: "Rome? Yeah. You still owe me a dance in Trevi fountain."
Chloe: "That I would love to see."

III. Edward Gets Jax's Attention (4/6)

Chloe: "That doesn't sound like Edward."
Jax: "Oh, you've never actually seen him in action, have you?"
Chloe: "Apparently not."
Jax: "He's a player from way back. Taught me a thing or two although I'd never actually admit that to him."
Chloe: "And now he's taking advantage of you."
Jax: "Absolutely."
Chloe: "Because of me."

Chloe: "Then why are you so happy?"
Jax: "Because this is what I do. This is what I'm best at. I almost forgot."
Chloe: "You've had a lot on your mind."

Chloe: "What do you mean, Ned was there?"
Jax: "Well, I mean, he wasn't in on it."
Chloe: "Well, were they waiting for you?"
Jax: "Yeah. It's all part of the game. Edward threw down a challenge, and now it's my turn. So I'll take my laptop and start working on the plane."

Chloe: "You know, you're needed here."
Jax: "The northern lights?"
Chloe: "All I need are the lights in your eyes."

Terry: "What do we make of the Chloe dreams as tied to Helena? I must confess that I tend to let my mind wander curing her scenes so I hadn't paid that much attention to her dreams, until people started talking online about the way motifs in the dreams seemed to echo the Magical Mystery Tour. Does this means she really WILL be the 'unlikely ally' spoilers say Stefan teams up with in his attack on Helena? Oh, dear. Did anyone who paid more attention than I did get the impression that there IS a connection?"

Amy: "Chloe's dream was really focused on the jukebox, and so I'm guessing the music has something to do with it--and is it a Cassadine connection, since Helena was there that day? And Hel's the one that ran her down? Has she been there before? Interestingly, when she had the jungle dream, I thought, 'That's convenient, since they can use the island set to film it,' but I didn't think that it was supposed to be the same island. Maybe it was."

"Perhaps the reason people assume the connection is to Helena is that Helena was with the jukebox. Perhaps they still have that 'lost Cassadine' setup stuck in their head from Alexis's letters and Miranda. Or perhaps Hel was always gunning for Chloe, and not telling Andy the truth because she knew he might leak it to Stefan?"

"But the only explanations I can come up with are all too DOOL-ish. 1) Chloe has been at these Spencer places before 2) Chloe is psychic like Lucy (somebody speculated that the bump on the head triggered this) 3) Chloe has been brainwashed by Helena too, for some weird reason, etc. Nothing makes much sense, and I haven't read any scoops about it."

"The music's from Sleeping Beauty--appropriately, 'Once Upon a Dream.' I wonder if the song has significance, or if they just had an easy time getting it because of the Disney connection. *G* It's played in the 2nd and 3rd dreams, but not in the dream of the car crash."

Arda: "The dream stuff is pretty strange. I would buy 'Chloe is psychic' explanation--if I have to--but I'm having a really hard time with the notion of Helena tinkering with Chloe's brain. I hate improbable plot twists and I'm not too keen on whatever they're doing with the 'vivid dream' stuff. I remember many of my own dreams, and I think they can be very useful in understanding and dealing with life. But I'd just hate some sci-fi or supernatural type dream plot."

Amy: "Maybe Chloe has an implant in the back of her neck..."

Judy: "Like someone pointed out on RATSA, I think she's seeing through Helena's eyes. The hit-n-run from the driver's perspective, trotting through Ice Princess Island, and the diner all suggest it. What's more horrifying than Chloe being involved with the Cassadines, is the thought of her becoming Stefan's new injured little bird. EEEYUCK! Shades of Katherine Bell."

Amy: "But we almost always see nightmares about incidents like this from third person, because that's the way they were filmed. When Brenda remembered getting shot in the shower, we didn't get that in first person. I wonder if the ratsa specs on point of view aren't really the point of the clip of the accident. In other words, Chloe looks at herself getting hit merely because that's the only way they shot the footage. Of course, they could have also shot a 1st person version, but then it wouldn't be as identifiable. Etc. Anyway, I'm not convinced by the point of view argument, even though my own has holes."

"But I desperately fear Chloe in with the Cassadines. Tava is out of her league just with the mixed marrieds, and she's been woefully awful in the scenes about her illness. Put her up against Nichols and Towers? Well, we've seen her with Towers and she just looked even worse. But maybe, again, people have Miranda's strange Cassadine connection in the back of their head..."

"But a Chloe/Stefan romance, now that he's broken up with Laura? If Ingo goes, perhaps Guza won't be able to pass it up. After all, Stefan turned to Katherine after Laura's last big betrayal... Blah."

IV. Dinner With the Ex-Spouses (4/11)

Alexis: "This is actually the first night that we can actually be seen with the people that--I can't say the people that we love because I do love you, too."
Jax: "Oh, and I love you."

Chloe: "I'm not sure how I feel about this. I have never liked competition between people I love."
Alexis: "Oh, dear. She doesn't know, does she?"
Jax: "She know what?"
Alexis: "That this aura is just a cover. Underneath, if he really wants something, he's a shark. He doesn't just nibble. He devours."

Jax: "Cheated on Lila."
Chloe: "Years ago."
Jax: "Hell, I haven't forgiven him."
Alexis: "Me neither."
Ned: "Me neither."
Chloe: "Ok. Me neither. Clearly the man needs to be put in his place."

Ned: "I guess you haven't heard. Chloe and I have started divorce proceedings."
Alexis: "So have Jax and I."
Ned: "Alexis and I are together again."
Chloe: "Which works out perfectly because I'm in love with Jax."

Alexis: "I imagine we are rather confusing to the outside world."

Mike: "You know, something tells me there was a lot more to that Gertrude scam than they told me."
Tammy: "Well, you know, it could also be that they rushed into their marriages without really being committed."
Mike: "Which is why you're not going to see me waltzing down an aisle anytime soon."
Tammy: "Really?"

Alexis: "So you canceled the trip."
Chloe: "Mm-hmm. Jax has been living his life for me lately. I know he loves what he does, and I don't want to take that away from him."
Alexis: "Jax could make a deal from the ice wall of a glacier."
Chloe: "I'm doing the right thing. I know I am."
Alexis: "Considering everything that's going on right now, is this really how you want to spend your time?"
Chloe: "I want to watch Jax be happy."

Ned: "You know, I was wondering why you were going after Edward."
Jax: "Edward?"
Ned: "Someone you can fight."

Mike: "Thank you. We will. I guess I'll enjoy as soon as I get my foot out of my mouth. Look, what I said before about marriage--I want you to know that that in no way reflects on how I feel about you. I just--I completely botched it the first time, and--and every other time I look at Sonny, I still have all these feelings of guilt for abandoning him as a kid. So, you see, Tammy, these things just--they come out of my mouth because I guess I'm trying to erase all that stuff in my head."
Tammy: "No offense taken."

Tammy: "Well, my goodness, what are you going to do with all your spare time if you don't have Sonny to worry about?"
Mike: "Well, I guess I'll have to start thinking about myself. And, believe me, I'd rather take Sonny yelling at me than that any day."
Tammy: "You know, I got to tell you, all those years in my former career when I was out there doing speed, it was sort of my way of sleepwalking through life, you know, not having to deal with anything. And I'm sure that it would be very hard for a lot of people to understand, but when I made the decision to take over Kelly's--wow, that was some pretty scary stuff for me."
Mike: "Why didn't you think that you could do it?"
Tammy: "Fear of failure. Sort of like you and that whole marriage deal."
Mike: "I hope that you are aware that everyone in that neighborhood loves Kelly's, and it's not just because of the food. Now, I would like to propose a toast. To you and me and the road of life, helping each other make it through."

Alexis: "They canceled it--because of whatever Jax is cooking up against Edward. And Chloe thinks that Jax is spending too much time worrying about her, and she knows how much he enjoys being a cutthroat, that she canceled the trip so that he could stay and wage his battles. Which is a fine idea if you're going to be able to see for the rest of your life. But if you're not, I have to question that decision. And more importantly, I'm wondering why Jax is going along with this."
Ned: "That phone call that Jax got during dinner wasn't about business. It was a conference call with a couple of doctors, one of whom he had to track down in the Amazon rain forest. And I'll bet you're right. I'll bet that Chloe has Jax convinced that she wants him to stay here and go after grandfather so she won't feel as guilty about keeping him away from work."
Alexis: "I just hope they don't regret this, that's all."
Ned: "Did Jax tell you which E.L.Q. company he was going after?"
Alexis: "No. Why?"
Ned: "Just wondering."

Jax: "I have no doubt that your medication is going to work. But just so you know, in case you change your mind, I will give up the Quartermaine deal in a heartbeat, take you all around the world. But you know that, right?"
Chloe: "I do."

Jax: "Well, Edward is the original pirate, you know. Because, you see, Edward wrote the laws, then paid off congress to pass them. That's why I get away with half the stuff that I do."

Ned: "This evening Jax said something that gave me a glimmer into what he's doing, even though he doesn't know it. He's frustrated because he's feeling powerless."
Alexis: "About Chloe's situation."
Ned: "And Jax doesn't like feeling powerless. He likes to conquer. In fact, he doesn't particularly like owning companies. He likes getting them. So, in order to compensate for what's happening to Chloe, he has decided to pick the biggest fight he can find."
Alexis: "You think he's going after E.L.Q.?"
Ned: "Why settle on a subsidiary when the mothership is staring you in the face?"
Alexis: "If there's a fight between Jax and Edward, who do you think is going to win?"
Ned: "If I were running E.L.Q., we would win. But alone, I really believe grandfather is vulnerable, and therefore the company is vulnerable. And my biggest fear is that I'm the only one who realizes just how much damage Jax can do."
Alexis: "You're thinking of going back to E.L.Q.?"
Ned: "Part of me wants Jax to stick it to the old man. But, of course, on the other hand, I am a Quartermaine, and I certainly can't risk Emily or Brooke Lynn's future because Jax is overcompensating."
Alexis: "Edward's going to beg you to help him. You know that, don't you?"
Ned: "I know. I know. But I am not going to be sucked back in. This is grandfather's fight, and I'm not going to get involved, and I'm counting on you to keep me sane."
Ned: "These are exquisite shoulders. Mighty fine shoulders. But I am going to give you a heavy burden to carry. Don't let me go back. You have to do whatever you have to do to keep me preoccupied."
Alexis: "I will do my best."
Ned: "I may need a lot of distraction."
Alexis: "I think I can handle it."
Ned: "Good."
Alexis: "Are you ready?"
Ned: "Mm-hmm."

V. More Lies (4/12)

A.J.: "You remind me of grandmother."
Chloe: "I wish. That's very kind of you."
A.J.: "You always see the good in people, even when it's not there."
Chloe: "Well, at this point, I'm very happy to see anything at all."

Chloe: "I don't mean to sound unkind, but why would you want to work with A.J.?"
Jax: "You know how the Quartermaines are always trying to impress Edward?"
Chloe: "Is that what you're trying to do?"
Jax: "Ouch."
Chloe: "Is A.J. trying to impress him by working with you?"
Jax: "Something like that. Let's just--you know, Chloe, you really--you don't have to worry about this."
Chloe: "You know he's drinking again."
Jax: "That won't affect this deal."
Chloe: "But you heard about the p.a. system at the hospital and the whole terrible scene at the grill."
Jax: "Yes. Well, he was stone sober this morning."
Chloe: "Yeah, but how reliable is he? I mean, he could've gone downstairs and started drinking or gone to tell Edward everything."
Jax: "Well, I'll take my chances."
Chloe: "Why do you want to get dragged into the Quartermaines?"
Jax: "Because the sooner I can get this done, the sooner Karl and Sigrid can go off to Russia."
Chloe: "But why do you want to work with A.J.? I mean, you just want to get Edward back, right? You just want to raid a little E.L.Q. subsidiary company and call it even."
Jax: "Something like that."

VI. A Line Between Business and Personal--Sound Familiar? (4/13)

Jax: "Figure crunching."
Chloe: "Mine could use a little."
Jax: "Wow. That's the best offer I've had all week."

Jax: "You know, Chloe, you've always said that you really never enjoyed business. You're much happier in a room by yourself sketching. So if this constant game of one-upsmanship that I call my career is going to be a problem for you, then maybe now is a good time to say so."

Chloe: "I won't lie to you. I am not entirely comfortable with my family being on the wrong end of a business deal with you. I would prefer if you kept your enemies anonymous and distant."

Chloe: "Hi, I'm Chloe. I'm a business wuss."
Jax: "You know, perhaps we shouldn't rule out an instinctive reaction because if we do then, you know, we could run into further complications down the road."

Chloe: "A.J.'s involvement concerns me. He's--he's hot-wired right now. I think he's just going to blow either way. And I think it's not a good idea to involve him in whatever you're doing."
Jax: "Why, because he's vulnerable? Well, there's no better time to strike."

A.J.: "It's possible I'm a bit defensive."

Chloe: "You've had some really bad breaks, A.J."
A.J.: "Yeah, but I'm not so far gone that I can't tell how ironic that is coming from you, Chloe."

Chloe: "No, no, no. It is not too late to stop drinking. It is not too late to make up with your family or to decide not to raid some little E.L.Q. subsidiary with Jax just to hurt Edward."
A.J.: "E.L.Q. subsidiary. Hmm. Is that what Jax told you our deal was about?"

Chloe: "I asked A.J. to come over. We were discussing some family matters."
A.J.: "And a tangled web we weave."

Chloe: "He didn't give away any trade secrets, if that's what you mean."
Jax: "Good. Because I wanted to tell you myself, so I'm just going to come right out and say it, ok?"
Chloe: "Ok. I'm listening."
Jax: "The deal I had with A.J. was to buy his shares of E.L.Q."
