The Scorpios:

  • With Felicia gone again, Mac takes Georgie and Maxie to Texas to stay with their great grandmother, Mariah. As Felicia hangs over the edge of the cliff, Mac and the girls talk on the airplane about their future. (4/3)
  • When Georgie announces that their mom doesn't want them anymore because she has a boyfriend, Mac explains to Mariah why he's brought the girls, and tells her that he believes that Felicia is having an affair with Luke. (4/4)
  • While the girls try to figure out what the move to Texas means, Mac tells Mariah more about the situation with Felicia. When she won't believe that Felicia would do such things, he says that he has proof, and she asks to see the tape. Afterwards, Mariah agrees with Mac that the girls are better with her, and not at home waiting for Felicia. But she doesn't give up all hope. Meanwhile, Felicia calls home from Dublin and gets no answer. (4/6)
  • In Canada, Felicia calls again. Still no answer. (4/7)
  • Mac and Mariah talk more about Felicia. After he puts Georgie back to bed after a nightmare, Mariah asks again if he'll take Felicia back, and he says that he won't. (4/11)
  • When she gets home, Felicia is stunned to find that Mac has taken her daughters to Texas without her knowledge. He informs her that their marriage is over and that the girls are in Texas to stay. After he leaves, she phones Mariah's to say she'll be at the PC Hotel. (4/13)
  • Felicia can't believe it when Maxie hangs up on her. She phones Mac, who says that he will not help her with her girls. They say goodbye, and she prepares to go to Texas without him. (4/14)

I. Well We're Movin' On Up (4/3)

Mac: "Why don't you close your eyes for a while."
Maxie: "I'm not sleepy."
Mac: "Too much cola. My fault. I should have asked for caffeine-free."
Maxie: "Nothing's your fault. You do everything right."
Mac: "Nobody's perfect, Maxie."
Maxie: "Everybody keeps saying that, like it's some excuse."

Maxie: "I don't want you to be alone."
Mac: "Not me. Hey, I've got a ton of work. And I'm going to call you every night."

Mac: "I can't move to Texas. Come on, I have a whole department counting on me. But wherever you think you'll be happy, that's where I want you to be."
Maxie: "You never let anybody down. You're not like mom. I try my best. So does Georgie. What are we doing wrong?"
Mac: "Nothing. Nothing. You both are terrific."
Maxie: "Our own parents don't want us."
Mac: "Is that what you think? Is that what you think? That this trip to Mariah's is because we don't want you?"
Maxie: "It's not you. You're the best, Mac. But our real father doesn't love us at all."
Mac: "Maxie, people show love in different ways."
Maxie: "By leaving their kids and not coming back?"
Mac: "Frisco's the one missing out."
Maxie: "There can't be much to miss."
Mac: "Oh, hey. You know how untrue that is."
Maxie: "Our own mother doesn't want us."
Mac: "Yes, she does, Maxie. She does. Felicia will be back."
Maxie: "Do you believe that?"
Mac: "Yes, I do."
Maxie: "Honest? And we'll be a normal family again?"
Mac: "There are lots of ways to be a family."
Maxie: "You and mom are getting divorced?"
Mac: "Hey, come on, look--nothing has been decided. Maxie, listen, you have to know is. You have to know this. No matter where you and Georgie live, no matter what happens to Felicia and me, you guys, you two girls, are my heart. Ok? I chose you. I chose you, and I'm never going to give you up, ever. Now, you know you can trust me on this."
Maxie: "I love you, too, Mac."
Mac: "I'm never going to give you up, ever."

II. Mac and the Girls Fill Mariah In (4/4, 4/6)

Mariah: "How was the flight?"
Mac: "Smooth. Just got hung up at D/FW."

Amy: "I'd have loved to see Mac and the girls come face to face with Felicia, Luke, and Laura in the middle of the D/FW airport."

Mariah: "I'm so glad you're here visiting me while your mommy's off taking care of her friend."
Georgie: "Mommy doesn't want us anymore. She has a boyfriend."

Mac: "Well, now, honey, you remember what the note said? Mommy is helping a friend, ok? I mean, his son is missing, and they're trying to find him. It doesn't mean that mommy doesn't want to be with you. You know how much your mommy loves you."
Georgie: "If she did, she would be with us."
Maxie: "Or at least explain it to us and then say good-bye."

Mac: "We all make mistakes, including me. We're going to work this out."
Maxie: "Everyone keeps saying that, but mom still keeps leaving us."

Georgie: "Will you still be here in the morning?"
Mac: "You betcha. Good night."

Mac: "I believed in Felicia, too. Even when she was flying around the globe with Luke Spencer, I hung in."

Mac: "There have been an awful lot of lies, Mariah. And I kept believing her. I mean, I guess I was blind because I wanted to be."

Mac: "Mariah, at this point, I don't care if Felicia was going off to save the free world. There are people who can help her, that can do that. There are people who can help Luke Spencer. I mean, the guy was my brother's best friend."
I can help Luke Spencer."

Mariah: "Oh, Mac. Look, at the heart of this is a misunderstanding. I'm sure of it. Felicia loves you, Mac."
Mac: "Then we have different definitions of love."

On the next day:

Mac: "How come they never make biscuits and gravy for breakfast in Port Charles?"
Mariah: "Oh, because nobody that far north can make them fit to eat."

Maxie: "Are you going to come ride with us?"
Mac: "Horses hate me."

Georgie: "Grandma?"
Mariah: "Yes?"
Georgie: "Do you want us?"
Mariah: "Oh, yes, my darling. Yes, I do. And so does your mommy."

Mac: "I want my family back. But that isn't going to happen."
Mariah: "Does--does Felicia know that the girls are here with me?"
Mac: "I don't even know where Felicia is."
Mariah: "Doesn't she phone?"
Mac: "Yeah, she calls the girls. If the phone rings, nobody picks it up until we know who it is. If the girls are around, they speak to their mother. If not--"
Mariah: "You don't pick up?"
Mac: "No."
Mariah: "That's so hard on the girls."
Mac: "Felicia doesn't even leave a number."
Mariah: "Mac, it just doesn't seem fair to them."
Mac: "Like I said, Felicia's moved on."
Mariah: "With Luke Spencer?"
Mac: "Yes."
Mariah: "I still don't believe it."
Mac: "Yeah, well, it took me a while, too, but there's no question."
Mariah: "Oh, Mac. Felicia was raised here. She used to keep this place full of friends. I have never known her to lie, to be deceitful, or to--to willingly hurt anyone, either as a child or as a grown woman."
Mac: "I have proof."
Mariah: "You mean the note?"
Mac: "A tape of Luke and Felicia together."
Mariah: "A tape? Let me see it."
Mac: "Any chance you could take my word?"
Mariah: "Don't make me ask you twice."

Felicia: "Mac? Is anybody there? Girls? Please pick up the phone. Is anybody there? I love you. I love all of you. Ok, I'll call back. I love you, Mac."

Mariah: "Oh, Mac. Can you ever forgive her?"
Mac: "I thought I had. You know, we were both trying. We dealt with the tape. I moved out for a while, and I moved back in. Then she left again, Mariah. She made her choice."
Mariah: "Mac, I am not going to judge my granddaughter based on a tape made by some criminal. But you've always been so good to Felicia and those girls. I don't want them around anything like this."
Mac: "Neither do I."
Mariah: "I want them here."
Mac: "I agree."
Mariah: "And then, if Felicia comes to her senses, we can take it from there."

Maxie: "What about you? Will you still be our dad?"
Mac: "Always."

III. Another Talk with the Answering Machine (4/7)

Felicia: "I would give anything to hear from you. Mac, I'm starting to get worried because you're never there when I call you. I miss you. I miss you and the girls so much. I know you don't understand why I had to do this, but when I get home you will. I love you. I love you so much."

IV. Mac Announces That He's Done with Felicia (4/11)

Maria: "Yes, of course I want them here. I just--I just keep thinking about the tape of Felicia and Luke that you showed me. Felicia having an affair--I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. But to do that to you, Mac. To you of all people."
Mac: "You want the sordid details?"
Maria: "Yes, I guess so."
Mac: "Well, it all started when everyone thought lucky Spencer had died."

Mac: "Don't feel bad. Felicia didn't tell me, either. You see, I found out a month later when a couple of wanted fliers crossed my desk with my wife and Luke's description on them."

Mac: "By this time, Faison had already kidnapped Felicia. I don't know who Faison was more obsessed with--me or Luke. But by kidnapping Felicia, he got to both of us. I mean, he purposely set up Luke to get to Felicia first. And he walked into a trap. And that's when the videotape was made."
Maria: "And so Faison forced them to--"
Mac: "What you saw was honest, Mariah. They didn't know they were being taped."
Maria: "And so you rescued them?"
Mac: "And Felicia led me to believe that she'd been through hell and that she missed me. That's when the tape arrived. Nice little Christmas present from Faison. I gave Felicia every opportunity to come clean, but she never did. You know, and after a while, I started to realize that she was living in two worlds--one that I got to know about and one that I didn't. And then she came to me one night and told me that she needed to go to Chicago again to do more research and that she had to go right away and that I couldn't contact her but she would call me. Of course I found out that Luke Spencer was out of town as well. So, the next time she called, I asked her point-blank to come home."
Maria: "Did you tell her that you knew she was with Luke?"
Mac: "I couldn't get past Felicia telling me what the weather was like in Chicago and how her research was going. She was gone for a whole month, Mariah. And when she got home, that's when I found out the story about Luke's son, lucky, being alive. And that in itself was a plot hatched in part by Faison. And, yes, I have come to accept the fact that lucky Spencer is alive. But why couldn't Felicia tell me any of this? Because Felicia didn't want me telling her not to go off globetrotting with Luke Spencer. And not just globetrotting. She was breaking into things, Mariah. What about Maxie and Georgie?"
Maria: "Oh--"
Mac: "I mean, she could've been killed. Anyway, when Felicia got back home, that's when I moved out. But that was a hardship on the girls. So I told Felicia I would come back home with the one promise that she not have anything to do with Luke Spencer again. And she gave me her word. Only a week later, she left a note that Luke needed help and she was going to go help him."
Maria: "Well, what exactly was in the note?"
Mac: "Oh, all the right things. But the bottom line is she broke the one promise she made and she went away with Luke."
Maria: "Mac, when she comes home, do you think you can take her back?"

Mac: "I am not kidding, Georgie. When you spray whipped cream on this particular monster, he turns into a thousand chocolate Easter bunnies. [Georgie laughs]"

Mac: "I don't even know if I should've brought them here. I'm new at this."
Maria: "Oh, Mac, bringing them here was the right thing to do. What those girls need now is a sense of security. And I can give them that. Now, you didn't have a chance to answer my earlier question. Can you take Felicia back? Do you know?"
Mac: "No--"

Mac: "You're not going to let me out of this, are you?"
Maria: "Mac, when you said no, did you mean you wouldn't take Felicia back or you don't have an answer yet?"
Mac: "Felicia has changed so much, Mariah. Like when I moved out--she used Maxie and Georgie to get me to come back home. I mean, the last thing I ever wanted was to get the girls in the middle of this. I guess that's why I brought them here. I don't know how to be married when I can't trust her. And I don't know that I can ever trust her again. I can't live like this anymore, Mariah. So, no. No, I won't take Felicia back."

V. I Think the Fat Lady's Singing (4/13)

Felicia: "Thank god you're home. I didn't know what to think when I walked in. I went upstairs and checked the girls' room and they're practically empty. And then I called police headquarters, and they said you'd gone to Texas. Where are the girls now?"
Mac: "They're still there, along with their things."
Felicia: "What's going on, Mac?"
Mac: "I packed what I could for you, Felicia. You still have some stuff upstairs. But you should be fine for a while, at least until you get resettled."
Felicia: "Resettled? I'm not going anywhere. I'm home to stay. I left you a message. I left you a million phone messages on that machine. I even called the girls to tell them that I was coming home."
Mac: "You know, the girls got tired of waiting."
Felicia: "What did you tell them?"
Mac: "Maxie and Georgie wanted to go to Texas."
Felicia: "Well, of course they'd want to go to Texas. Their great-grandmother's there. Now that I'm home, we'll go get them and we'll bring them back."
Mac: "No, Felicia, now that you're home, we won't go get them back!"
Felicia: "This isn't funny."
Mac: "You're right, Felicia. This isn't funny. We haven't had a good laugh around here in months. And that's what they should be doing--laughing they're little girls. Maxie shouldn't have to play the role of mother. And Georgie shouldn't have to feel she needs to defend you every time her sister gets resentful or mad."
Felicia: "Why are you not letting our girls come home?"
Mac: "Because they need a mother."
Felicia: "They have a mother."
Mac: "No, Felicia, they have you--a woman who's never around because she's off trotting the globe with her lover!"
Felicia: "'lover'?--"
Mac: "Meanwhile, life goes on here. Felicia, you know, Georgie needs someone to watch her practice her dance routines, and Maxie needs help with her math. You know, Maxie has fallen behind in her math, in case you hadn't noticed. But then how could you? You'd actually have to be here for that, wouldn't you?"
Felicia: "What are you telling me?"
Mac: "I thought I was just being very clear. The girls are with Mariah in Texas. That's where they're going to be staying from now on."
Felicia: "No, they're not."
Mac: "Yes, they are."
Felicia: "How dare you?"
Mac: "I'll tell you how dare I--because you don't love them, Felicia."
Felicia: "Did you tell them that? That's a cruel, unspeakable lie."
Mac: "If you did--if you did love them, you would be here. You'd be here, a functioning parent--not off chasing Luke Spencer to hell and back. You know, I've--I had no illusions left about you. I knew it was over with us the second time you went to go be with Luke. But it's hard on the girls. And it's getting harder on them, so I took steps to protect them."
Felicia: "Protect them from me? What a hero you are."
Mac: "From your constant continued absence."
Felicia: "Tell me this isn't happening."
Mac: "No, I'm sorry, Felicia. I can't help you there."
Felicia: "What does Mariah think?"
Mac: "Frankly, she's almost as disappointed"
You as I am."
Felicia: "Really? Well, what did you tell her?"
Mac: "I told her everything."

Felicia: "Explain to me what you mean by 'everything.'"
Mac: "Mariah knows that you and Luke are lovers."
Felicia: "First of all, we were not lovers, for the millionth time. And secondly, grandmother would never believe that."
Mac: "Well, she seemed pretty convinced once she saw the tape."
Felicia: "I destroyed that tape."
Mac: "I made copies."
Felicia: "You made copies? You--you showed it to my grandmother?"
Mac: "It's evidence, Felicia."
Felicia: "Evidence against what? Are you building a case against me? Did you even bother to explain to her the circumstances under which the tape was made? That it was just a moment out of context designed to look as if something was going on between Luke and me that did not go on!"
Mac: "Come on! Give that up!"
Felicia: "Ok. Fine. I will. I have. I've given it up. Trying to make you believe that I didn't have an affair with Luke is never going to happen. But it's the truth. But for you to go to my grandmother with that tape, to bolster your version of events, to take my children away from me is just plain vindictive."
Mac: "You know what, Felicia? You know what? I am sick and tired of hearing about what I've done to you. I am tired of hearing about that. What about the horrible position that you left me in with those girls, asking me all kinds of questions that I didn't have answers for? All the weeks of trying to come up with new ways to tell them that there mommy still loved them. And that, yeah, she'd be coming home soon and that life would be peachy again. Oh, god, Felicia. In the throes of passion with Luke Spencer did you ever once--once--just stop to think about how you were hurting those girls, huh? Loving them one minute and then just disappearing the next. You know what? You left them in my care and in my custody. And I took steps to protect them. I wanted them to feel secure. So I took them someplace where they would. And as for Mariah, I just told Mariah the truth. You can't possibly expect me to lie for you."
Felicia: "This is so wrong."
Mac: "You know what? I am--I'm going to work. And I would appreciate it if you and your stuff are gone when I get back."

VI. Yup, She's Definitely Singing (4/14)

Felicia: "She won't speak to me. The minute she hears my voice, she slams the phone down. I need to be with her. We need to be together as a family."
Mac: "This is one trip you need to do alone."
Felicia: "You took them there without consulting me."
Mac: "Because you weren't around, remember? I took them someplace where they would be safe and cared for while you were off chasing after someone else's kid."
Felicia: "Well, we have to do this together for the very same reason--so that they can feel safe."
Mac: "I'm not going to pretend that the four of us are a family anymore, all right? I'm done, Felicia--with you, our marriage, and with making excuses for the girls about you. I love Maxie and Georgie too much to lie to them."
Felicia: "How can you be so cold?"
Mac: "What do you expect when you put your affair with Luke Spencer before your husband and your children?"
Felicia: "I didn't have an affair with Luke. You know me."
Mac: "No, I don' maybe I never did."

Felicia: "Do the girls know how much you resent me? Is that why Maxie hung up on me, because you've turned them against me?"
Mac: "Unlike you, Felicia, I have always put the girls first. Do you know that I have looked them in the eyes and lied to them, told them how much you love them, that they've always come first with you, and that you wish like anything to be home with them? Do you know how that made me feel?"
Felicia: "Those weren't lies."
Mac: "Oh, no? They weren't, huh? Well, where were you when Georgie was planning her birthday party? Where was mom when Maxie wanted you just to lie around and giggle about boys and clothes and girls and stuff? You were with Luke."
Felicia: "I wanted to be here. You have no idea how hard it was."
Mac: "If you wanted to be here, Felicia, you would have been here. I know it, and the girls know it. But I guess compared to the drama surrounding Luke, life at home with your husband and the girls just didn't stack up."
Felicia: "Why won't you give me a chance?"
Mac: "You want Luke, Felicia. Go get him."
Felicia: "I want to go to Texas to be with the girls. You know where I'll be. If you decide you want to stop blaming me and work this out, let me know."
Mac: "Good-bye, Felicia."

Joan: "People online have been complaining about Mac. But he still looks better than Felicia. She has consistently lied to her husband, put herself in harm's way without regard for her children's need to have her there for them, promised never to roam minutes before picking up and leaving with only a note, made Maxie de facto mother to her sister, said to her husband 'you and the girls are the most important things in my life" while demonstrating by her actions that they come in a poor third behind her commitment to Luke and her desire for thrills. As for her relationship with Luke, she's right: technically, she has not slept with Luke; in all the ways that count, however, she has been unfaithful to Mac in thought, desire and action many times over."

Amy: "As for the technicality of the non-affair, Felicia latches onto that accusation and defends herself against that at precisely that point, when she knows she can't defend herself against his other accusations about her girls. Or she turns it back on him and blames him for turning them against her."

"I keep expecting them to bring up the Frisco connection, and the doubts Mac had because of Felicia's relationship with him. As the layers of the fighting about the Luke stuff peel back, we'd get down to the fact that Mac, at one point, backed out of an engagement to Felicia because of Frisco. A look at the doubts that underlie this accidental marriage (they weren't actually supposed to get married that day, remember?) would be fantastic, and a great way to look at Mac and Felicia history. If we could then see them work towards a reconciliation--and maybe another, planned, marriage, I could dig it."
