Elizabeth Webber:
- After fighting with Stefan, Nikolas comes to Elizabeth and tells her that
Lucky is alive. She refuses to believe it. He goes back to Laura's and she remains
alone, in shock. (3/7)
- Elizabeth tells Emily that Lucky might be alive. Nikolas arrives, and he announces
that he's going to confront Helena. Elizabeth can't let herself believe that Lucky
is alive. (3/8)
- After a nightmare about Lucky, Elizabeth goes to talk to Laura. Later, she
goes to the boxcar. She thinks that she hears Lucky arriving, but it's Nikolas.
She tells Nikolas how hard this is for her. (3/9)
- Next, Elizabeth goes to talk to Luke about Lucky being alive. (3/10)
- When Elizabeth walks in on them kissing, she tells them not to act any differently
when she's around. Nikolas arrives and tells her that he's going to try to get
information out of Helena. Elizabeth leaves on an errand while Emily tries to
get Juan to sing for Nikolas. Finally, the girls talk about Lucky; Emily believes
that Lucky is alive. (3/14)
- Nikolas and Elizabeth talk about whether to go after Lucky, but Elizabeth
says that she wants to leave it to Luke and Laura, even if they haven't heard
anything yet. (3/22)
- At Kelly's, Elizabeth keeps working so as not to think about Lucky. Tammy
talks to her about it, and Mike reassures her, but Elizabeth can't stop worrying.
Later, she asks Felicia whether it was really Lucky she saw and why it's taking
Luke and Laura so long. She says that she just wishes somebody would do something,
that she wishes that she could do something. (3/23)
- When she runs into Bobbie at Kelly's, Elizabeth asks if the reason she hasn't
been around is that she's had news of Lucky. Bobbie has to disappoint her. Elizabeth
checks in at L&B and tells Emily that she's really worried that she hasn't heard
from Luke and Laura. Emily talks to Elizabeth about her jealousy at the thought
Juan will be the object of female attention as his career takes off. (3/28)
- Elizabeth suggests to Emily that Sonny could back Juan's career, but Emily
says Juan won't go for it. Elizabeth talks to Nikolas about Lucky coming home.
Nikolas asks her if she's going to tell Lucky that he kissed her; she says she
won't lie. Nikolas says that maybe Lucky can work with the rest of them at L&B.
(3/29)
- Elizabeth finishes work at Kelly's and goes to Sonny's; he's called her to
talk about Francis. When she gets to the penthouse, she smirks at the new rocking
chair in the living room and ends up in a fight with Carly. Sonny comes in only
in time to hear Elizabeth stand up for his child. (3/30)
I. Nikolas Tells Elizabeth That Lucky is Alive (3/7)
The song that played at Liz's studio in this scene--"Seems like a lifetime
/ since you and I were together" (or close to that)--is, I believe, a song called
"When the Blue Owl Comes," and was used at least once over a music montage that
featured Brenda. It also appears on the GH album that was released a few
years back.
Nikolas: "I'm not supposed to say anything--Laura specifically told me
not to--but I spent my entire life having things kept from me and I think that--I
think you have the right to know."
As we said elsewhere, not only does the fact that both Stefan and Luke kept
the secret from her for a while justify each man's decision in a reciprocal way,
but for my money, the fact that Laura didn't want to tell Elizabeth justified
the decision as well. And when Nikolas told her, I was reminded very much of the
scene in which Alexis told him the truth about his paternity because of the lies
and secrets concerning hers all of her life.
Nikolas: "Lucky's alive."
Elizabeth: "Don't say that."
Nikolas: "Look--"
Elizabeth: "Why are you doing this to me?"
Nikolas: "Luke thinks he saw him."
Elizabeth: "No. No, no, because I saw the fire, ok? I saw the chain, the subway
token. The police ran all the tests and all of them were a match. It was Lucky."
Elizabeth: "If Lucky were still alive, he would've found a way to let me know."
Nikolas: "My uncle says he saw him."
Elizabeth: "Then were is he? Where's Lucky? Show him to me."
Nikolas: "Are you sure you're going to be ok?"
Elizabeth: "Go. Just go. I need to be by myself."
At the end of the day, Elizabeth held up the subway token necklace that had
been found on the body in the fire. It was the same motion she had used that night.
II. Elizabeth Tells Emily That Lucky Might Be Alive (3/8)
Emily: "He's going to come back to us. He's going to walk in right through
that door, and he's going to be here! Why aren't you happy?"
Elizabeth: "I can't let myself believe it."
Elizabeth: "Oh. For the first few months after the fire, I kept thinking that
Lucky's death was a mistake, you know? Every time the phone rang, I thought it
would be him. Whenever I'd come home, I expected to see him on my front porch
flashing that smile and telling me that it was some incredibly tasteless joke.
He never called and he never showed up. And finally, I started to accept that
he was gone--not from my heart--never that--but from this world, forever. And
now Nikolas is telling me that he's alive, waiting to be rescued? Emily, I really
want to believe this, but--"
Emily: "You're afraid."
Elizabeth: "What if it's not true? What if I let myself accept it and Nikolas
turns out to be wrong? I can't let myself go through that."
Emily: "Elizabeth, listen to me. Why don't you go talk to Luke and Laura, ok?
They'll have to know something."
Elizabeth: "I don't think I can have a conversation about this."
Emily: "You have to. Liz, what if it's true?"
Elizabeth: "I can't. Not yet."
Nikolas: "You told her, didn't you?"
Elizabeth: "There was no way I could keep it to myself."
Nikolas: "Ok, did you tell her that there's a possibility he's alive or that I'm
having delusions?"
Elizabeth: "I know you did not make this up. I know that Lucky was important to
you as well."
Nikolas: "But you still don't believe it."
Elizabeth: "When I see Lucky in front of me and when I feel his arms around me,
then I will accept he's alive. Until then, it's just too much to hope for."
Nikolas: "I know. I know. If my family weren't involved, I would have the same
reaction. But this fits perfectly with the way we do things."
Elizabeth: "Why go to your grandmother now? Didn't you say she's the one that
took Lucky in the first place?"
Nikolas: "Yes, but if I confront Helena, I can learn more."
Elizabeth: "Oh, she's just going to lie to you, Nikolas, like she always does."
Elizabeth: "You sound so confident Lucky's alive."
Nikolas: "Well, both Luke and Stefan said they saw him."
Elizabeth: "But they could be wrong."
Nikolas: "Yes, I know. But for now, I'm choosing to accept it."
Elizabeth: "It just--it just feels so impossible."
Nikolas: "Well, um--maybe you should try and start thinking of what it will be
like if it's true and what it would be like when you finally see Lucky again."
Elizabeth: "More than anything I could ever hope for, I want you to be alive
again, to have what we had before, to live the life we've always dreamed of. But
if you were alive, I'd have already known it. I'd be able to feel you here right
now. You can't be alive, Lucky. And I can't risk thinking you are."
We cut from this to Lucky and Helena on the plane. For some reason I notice
that Emily has been calling her "Liz" a lot. What happened to, "I want to be 'Elizabeth'"?
And at the end, Elizabeth was at the box car, and music from old scenes with
her and Lucky was playing. The last time she was at the boxcar, however, was when
Jason was shot. But we still weren't dealing with the conflict of interests she
had had in her relationship with Jason, and the association of the boxcar with
both men seemed to highlight that. It was as though she was choosing not to remember
anything about Jason, or that he mattered to her only when she was in Carly's
face about things. It was inconsistent, and if we were asked to believe that there's
was such a sweet parting, if we spent so much time on them, why on earth has the
thought of Jason completely dropped out of her mind? Why is it not a problem for
her to think about her feelings for Jason? After all, she sat in that same studio
and thought of him, sat with him on those same docks when he kissed her forehead
and she begged him not to leave. Jason was, in some ways, all about Lucky. But
he was also important to Elizabeth for his own sake, and I'd like to see her deal
with that in some way.
III. Elizabeth Talks with Nikolas (3/9)
Elizabeth stood in Kelly's dressed in white, then heard the sirens, saw a
fire, and woke up to find it had been a dream.
Elizabeth: "This is our place. Just me and Lucky."
Nikolas: "Yeah, this is where you decided to become a painter, didn't you? That
summer."
Elizabeth: "Yeah. Seems like forever ago. All the pictures are starting to fade."
Elizabeth: "I was at Kelly's, and Lucky was there. And I could almost see
him."
Nikolas: "Then the flames just shot up?"
Elizabeth: "Mm-hmm."
Elizabeth: "I can't lose him again. I can't."
Elizabeth: "If I were out there somewhere, Lucky would come after me."
Nikolas: "That's right."
Elizabeth: "He wouldn't even think twice. He wouldn't care how much it hurt. He
would keep looking until he found me or he knew for sure--"
Nikolas: "Lucky knew how much you loved him."
Elizabeth: "Then why can't I believe? Why can't I afford to hope?"
Nikolas: "Lucky was your whole future, you know? Why would you want to lose that
again?"
Elizabeth: "They won't find him."
Nikolas: "No, no, no. Don't say that."
Elizabeth: "I can't explain it, but I just know they're not going to find him."
Nikolas: "Come on. You used to believe in miracles."
Elizabeth: "Not anymore."
IV. Elizabeth Starts to Believe (3/14)
Juan: "We just want to help, you know, however we can."
Elizabeth: "Well, then treat me like you always do--with contempt and disrespect.
I'm kidding!"
Nikolas: "She--she is cold-blooded enough and she definitely has the resources.
But it's almost over. Luke, Laura, Stefan--everyone's onto her. If Helena has
Lucky, she's not going to keep him for long."
Elizabeth: "What if he's really out there, Em? What if Luke and Laura really
bring him back? I've been thinking about--about everything. You know, the night
of the fire. I've been playing it back in my head trying to get in touch with
how I felt. I didn't believe he was dead. He never really felt gone to me. You
know what, you--will you please stop me when I do this? Because--"
Emily: "Why, Elizabeth?"
Elizabeth: "Because miracles like this don't happen. It's too much to hope for."
Emily: "Yeah, but you're starting to believe it, aren't you?"
Elizabeth: "Yeah, I am."
V. Leave it to the Experts (3/22)
Emily: "Do you ever think about going after Lucky? I mean, the three of us?
You know, like going to look for the fourth musketeer?"
Nikolas: "Sure."
Elizabeth: "I try not to."
Elizabeth: "Why do you think Luke and Laura have been gone so long?"
Nikolas: "I try not to think about it."
Elizabeth: "Do you think it means that Lucky isn't out there?"
Nikolas: "Or maybe they ran into Stefan and who knows."
Elizabeth: "Yeah. Well, driving ourselves crazy isn't going to help, right?"
Elizabeth: "You know what? From this point on--at least for the next seven
seconds--I'm going to leave it all up to Luke and Laura."
Nikolas: "All right."
VI. Elizabeth Can't Stop Worrying (3/23)
Tammy: "Is there any way that you could remember Lucky without longing for
more?"
Elizabeth: "Knowing what I know now--no, I can't help it."
Tammy: "Elizabeth, you need to try and remember all the wonderful times and take
them and hold them close to your heart because moments like that and people like
him, they only come along once in a lifetime. You need to--you need to be really
grateful for what you had. And try not to get ahead of yourself."
Elizabeth: "That's going to be the hard part."
Tammy: "Uh-uh. Elizabeth, you can do anything you set your mind to. From what
I've seen, you can."
Mike: "You know, for a lot of people, love only comes once in their life,
and for the longest time, I thought I was one of them. And that's why meeting
Tammy was so special to me--because I already knew how difficult it was to find
the right person."
Elizabeth: "I'm really glad you two are happy."
Mike: "And I'm sure you'll be happy, too. And I know that waiting is hell, but
you have to find some way to have a little faith. Luke and Laura will bring Lucky
home."
Elizabeth: "Now, don't keep her out too late."
Mike: "Hey--if I had my way, I wouldn't bring her home at all. Good night."
Terry: "What is the deal with the leather lately? Is the show getting
a kickback from the leather industry? Some of the leather is lovely, but a lot
of it is just horrid--that terrible outfit Felicia wore with the blue jacket and
red skirt, some of the long skirts the women have been wearing, that funky jacket
Stefan wore on the boat. Not fair that Luke got a 'cool' black jacket and Stefan
got one that looked cheap and too small to boot. Roy's brown jacket looks lived
in and appropriate, but I'm not wild about Bobbie's similarly colored one. On
today's show, Tammy wore one too. This is getting ridiculous."
Amy: "I agree about most of the ugly outfits for women (some looked
like vinyl, rather than leather!), but Tammy's jacket was sharp sharp sharp. Love
Luke's jacket. And boots. Stefan's made me think that he was accepting gifts from
Richie, a la Tony Soprano. I loved Roy's jacket. And I'm sure there were boots.
And did I mention that Tammy's jacket was sharp sharp sharp?"
Joan: "Crack me up! To think that Tony may be in for a hit, not for
depriving Richie of income, but for that tacky, tacky jacket. And you're right;
Tammy looked the best, outside of Luke. Felicia's leather is horrible, and the
day someone told her she looked nice I almost choked on my rice cake."
VII. Elizabeth Still Can't Stop Worrying (3/28)
Elizabeth: "Sorry. Did Luke and Laura check in with you? Have you heard about
Lucky?"
Bobbie: "No."
Elizabeth: "Oh. That's not where you've been?"
Bobbie: "Oh, no. I've been dealing with a situation with Carly."
Bobbie: "Well, I'm sure it means that they haven't gotten to Lucky yet because
the second they do, I'm sure they'll call you."
Elizabeth: "Ok."
Bobbie: "Honey, Luke and Laura will find Lucky because there's no way my brother's
coming home without his son."
Elizabeth: "I just still can't believe it yet."
Bobbie: "I know."
Elizabeth: "I can't stop thinking about what he's been through or how he's going
to feel about me."
Bobbie: "I don't think you're going to have to worry about that."
Elizabeth: "How are you doing?"
Bobbie: "I'm ok."
Elizabeth: "Ok. Listen, I've got to go to L&B in a couple minutes, so if you hear
anything, will you--"
Bobbie: "I'll call."
Elizabeth: "Thank you."
Emily: "So, any word on Lucky?"
Elizabeth: "Uh-uh."
Emily: "That doesn't mean something bad happened."
Elizabeth: "I'm starting to wonder, what if something happens to Luke and Laura?
What if they drop off the face of the earth?"
Emily: "Well, you know how Luke and Laura are. I mean, Lucky used to say they're
unstoppable."
Elizabeth: "Then why haven't they called?"
Emily: "Oh, I don't know, but I'm sure that they're fine and they're finding Lucky
right now. I'm sure of that."
Elizabeth: "Ok, but what if Lucky's not ok?"
Emily: "Elizabeth, Luke saw him. So did Nikolas' uncle. He's fine."
Elizabeth: "But what if something's happened since then? Or, I mean--you know,
my mind is just doing all these weird things right now and--like on the way over
here on the bus, I started thinking, what if Helena's got this whole thing planned
out so that Luke and Laura go searching all over the world for Lucky, and the
second they find him, she--"
Emily: "No, no, no, no, no. Elizabeth, that is not going to happen."
Elizabeth: "Emily, he would have found a way to contact me. Even during that short
period of time he was with Stefan, he would have called. Wouldn't he?"
Emily: "Elizabeth, not unless there are, you know, guards around that wouldn't
let him use the phone. Now, think about it. You know Lucky. You know that he wouldn't
just be sitting there taking this. He's not contacting you probably because he
wants to protect you. It's like you said--except for Nikolas, the Cassadines are
very dangerous people and they have been feuding with Lucky's family forever."
Elizabeth: "Yeah, since Luke killed Helena's husband."
Emily: "Right, exactly. Maybe Lucky is not contacting you because he knows that
if Helena finds out, she'll realize that you're Lucky's Achilles' heel and then
you're going to be in danger. Ok, maybe he needs to convince them that he doesn't
care about you, which is totally not true. Either way, Luke and Laura are going
to find him, or he's going to find his way back to you."
Elizabeth: "Thank you. Just keep telling me that, ok?"
Emily: "I will."
VII. Elizabeth...Well, You Get the Idea (3/29)
Nikolas: "Remember all those stories Lucky told us about the ice princess?"
Elizabeth: "And that crazy weather machine."
Nikolas: "And didn't Luke and Laura bail out of a plane once?"
Elizabeth: "Yeah, or twice--maybe three times. Lucky used to show me all the IDs
and disguises they used to carry around."
Nikolas: "And didn't they end up in a boat that was my grandfather's?"
Elizabeth: "Yeah, they turned it into some nightclub and took it out on adventures.
Or maybe the other way around."
Nikolas: "Luke and Laura have been doing these kind of things for years."
Elizabeth: "And what about Stefan? What if he hurts Luke? What if Luke hurts him?"
Nikolas: "I don't--I don't know what to think about Stefan anymore."
Elizabeth: "Ok, so what if they're trapped or drowning or something blew up or--"
Nikolas: "Elizabeth, don't think like that. It doesn't help."
Elizabeth: "You're right. It's just been a really tough day."
Nikolas: "Yeah, and the longer we don't hear anything, the better. We have to
believe that."
Elizabeth: "Do you ever wonder where Lucky is, like, right this very second?"
Nikolas: "I try not to think about it."
Elizabeth: "You don't think Helena's hurting him, do you?"
Nikolas: "No, probably not. Are--are you going to tell Lucky I kissed you?"
Elizabeth: "That was ages ago. I'm not going to lie to him, but why would he even
ask?"
Nikolas: "Just wondered."
Nikolas: "I like us all working here. You know, I've been thinking that Lucky's
so good with tech stuff. Maybe he could work here as a sound engineer or something
so we could all be together."
Elizabeth: "Yeah, that'd be great."
