Letter from the Editor
by Amy McWilliams
Welcome to the General Hospital Review!
Other deadlines have delayed this issue for a few days, but we're thrilled
to bring you such a full and interesting (if we do say so ourselves) month of
the GHR. Some of my favorite regular features are back after an absence,
and you'll see all of our editors represented in the articles below.
Judy's latest chapter in her "What's Cookin' on the Backburner" series brings
us a conversation between two of her favorite characters. In "Now and Then," Arda
takes a look at Felicia's history with men, while Ruby returns to her "First Impressions"
column with her early thoughts on the pairing of Sonny and Carly. Terry's "Small
Things" also looks at some of the details of recent Carly and Sonny scenes, and
she discusses Lucky's return as well. And our friend Michelle Debra tells us about
her GH viewing in an installment of "How We Watch."
Finally, we're starting a new feature, designed to let us briefly comment
on episodes more recent than those in the review. "Quick Takes" will offer short
notes on characters and storyline from the month just past, giving our busy editors
and writers a way to comment without writing a full article. We start out with
a note from Joan on Carly's miscarriage, and with my thoughts on the use of minor
characters on both GH and PC.
As a final (and, we know, oft repeated) note, please bookmark the front page
at our domain name (../../); it will always give you the
latest news about the review, including upcoming issues, and will always be in
place with links to everything GHR, current and past. And no matter what
happens behind the scenes, you'll always be able to find us. We did recently move
to a new server, and if you came to us through an outdated link, it would help
us greatly if you would inform that webmaster that we have a new address.
Enjoy! And stay out of the heat, if you can!
GH in Review
by Amy McWilliams
This month's review covers the month of March on GH. Next month,
I'll try again to get back to some of the weeks we skipped over recently, as well
as covering April. A new reader did write in and say she'd love to read those
missing months, so when I get some time, I'll be happy to oblige, even if it's
only a little bit at a time!
The transcript page is missing a few days in the middle of March, so there
are no quotes from those days, though I've tired to fill out the descriptions
as much as I can.
As always, thanks go to the GH
Transcripts Page. I depend on it as well as the daily updates from the official
ABC website and r.a.t.s.a. Thanks also to everybody on the GH side
of the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.tv.soaps.abc for their discussion of the show,
and to the other editors, whose discussion always informs my own opinions and
makes the show so much more fun to watch.

What's Cookin' on the Backburner: Episode 10
by Judy Ellison
Judy Ellison's concoction is a fictional look at the characters who are,
shall we say, not so busy right now. We're thrilled to have her back with another
installment, this time spinning out the familial possibilities for one of our
new favorite pairings: Stefan and Andreas! And they ain't just swappin' chexmix
recipes.

Now and Then: Felicia's Choices
by Arda Darakjian Clark
The "Now and Then" column presents scenes and sequences out of the history
of the show, primarily to explain, compare and contrast, or inform the present
with the past. Here, Arda Clark recounts a time in Felicia's past in which she
faced a choice between two men, showing how her behavior with Mac and Luke now
is rooted in her history.
Now and Then
First Impressions: The Damage Done
by Ruby
"First Impressions" considers new things on our show: actors, storylines,
plot twists, couples, etc. This time, Ruby brings us her reactions to the pairing
of Sonny and Carly, discussing the storyline that brought them together as well
as the miscarriage, and speculating on how their relationship will continue.
First Impressions
Small Things:
by Teresa Leslie
Teresa Leslie's column focuses on the small, seemingly insignificant things
on GH. When noticed and considered, however, these little details illuminate
many things about the characters and plots. This month, Terry addresses Lucky's
real feelings for Elizabeth, revealed in two small things from his return, and
discusses the history present in the scenes of Carly's recent miscarriage.

How We Watch: Time for a Study Break!
by Michelle Debra
"How We Watch" is a column dedicated to sharing the stories of our soap
viewing. This month, the feature returns with a tale of soap viewing from our
favorite GH-watching college student, Michelle Debra. Michelle has graciously
allowed us to reprint this post from r.a.t.s.a.
How We Watch
Quick Takes
Our newest feature, "Quick Takes," gives our editors and writers a chance
to sound off on recent shows when they don't have time to contribute a full article
on the topic. This allows us to feature their opinions before "GH in Review" catches
up to the most current episodes. In this first set of takes, Joan gives her mixed
response to Carly's miscarriage while I consider the addition of smaller characters
to the canvases of GH and PC

Reader Mail
This month, a reader speaks out about Carly's miscarriage. And of you're
still waiting to learn who Kimberly Ann Robinson was, here's your answer.

Say Cheese!
It's June, and that means one thing: Nurses' Ball! Our featured photos
this month are all from the Nurses' Balls in recent years. Check out our featured
webpages, below, to find more.

In addition, we're featuring three desktop wallpapers this issue. Two are
from recent magazine covers, and one features a pair of classic characters from
years past. Remember, you can save the thumbnail photo on the main page if you
simply want a copy of the photo and not the full-sized wallpaper image.

Featured Web Page
First, we couldn't pass up the chance Eddie Maine's recent performance
gives us to feature the webpage for Wally Kurth's real life band, Kurth and Taylor.
You can download audio samples, see backstage photos, and, most importantly, order
all four Kurth and Taylor albums.

Online
Since it is June, I went looking for Nurses' Ball Webpages. I found very few,
but I wanted to feature the two I did find. They offer details on past years'
acts, including photos of almost everything. Many thanks to both of these webmasters
for their work.
The first focuses on the 1998 Nurses' Ball ("Jailhouse Rock," "Big Spender,"
etc.). It includes screen captures of both acts and audience members.

The second has pages dedicated to each of the six Nurses' Balls, from 1994
to 1999, and includes lots of photos as well as descriptions.
