Letter from the Editor
by Amy McWilliams

Welcome to the General Hospital Review!

We're all busy this summer, but we've put together some good things for you in this August issue. While "GH in Review" finishes out the month of April, our editors offer their opinions on a range of topics. Joan praises Constance Towers's performance of Helena Cassadine in "A Study in Character," while Judy's back with Episode 10 of her "What's Cookin' on the Backburner" series. Arda takes a look at some things about our show that aren't working for her just now in "And Another Thing...", and Terry offers up two "Quick Takes": one on Stefan, and another on Carly and Roy. Add to that wallpaper and screen captures, as well as two new featured web pages, and we hope we've given you enough reason to take a break from the heat and enjoy!

GH in Review
by Amy McWilliams

This month's review covers the last two weeks of April on GH. Next month, I'll return with a full review.

As always, thanks go to the GH Transcripts Page. I depend on it as well as the daily updates from the official ABC website and r.a.t.s.a. Thanks also to everybody on the GH side of the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.tv.soaps.abc for their discussion of the show, and to the other editors, whose discussion always informs my own opinions and makes the show so much more fun to watch.

A Study in Character: Constance Comment
by Joan Roseman

This study concerns actor, more than character. Joan celebrates the mastery that is Constance Towers in this look at her performance of Helena Cassadine.

What's Cookin' on the Backburner: Episode 10
by Judy Ellison

Judy Ellison's concoction is a fictional look at the characters who are, shall we say, not so busy right now. Judy's back with a new episode set at the Backburner Bar, and it's not just the usual faces munching chexmix this time around.

"And Another Thing...": GH is Off Key
by Arda Darakjian Clark

Never one to mince words, Joan Roseman's opinion column has covered a wide range of topics. This month, Arda covers the grumpy bases for Joan again as she discusses the things that haven't been working for her on our show.

Quick Takes

This feature offers short comments by our editors on a variety of topics more recent than those featured in "GH in Review." This month, Terry talks about the recent changes in her favorite character, Stefan Cassadine, as well as her new favorite friendship, Carly and Roy.

Say Cheese!

Along with a new selection of wallpaper, we're thrilled this month to offer our first screen captures in the photo feature. And what better subject than our dear Andreas?

Featured Websites

World of General Hospital, a site which was recommended to us, offers spoilers, photos, links, a message board, opinions, transcripts, polls, and more. Though most of the photos it collects are ones we've seen before, some are no longer available on the ABC website. Moreover, the design is clean and easy to use. We always appreciate sites that work to have content over and above photo galleries (though we applaud photo galleries too!), and this site offers some good material.

And if you can't get O-Town's two songs out of your head, try replacing them with two songs from Juan. You can buy music from Michael Saucedo (Juan Santiago) at his official site, which also includes photos, features, and announcements of Michael's upcoming events.

As always, if you would like to recommend a site for recognition in a future issue, you can do so at the feedback form.
