Letter from the Editor
by Amy McWilliams
Welcome to the General Hospital Review!
If you're a returning visitor, you'll notice immediately that we've got a
new look! This is our third design, and each time I try to make things neater
and easier to read. I hope you like it!
Please bookmark the front page at our domain name (http://www.ghreview.com);
it will always give you the latest news about the review, including upcoming issues,
and will always be in place with links to everything GHR, current and past.
And no matter what happens behind the scenes, you'll always be able to find us.
We did recently move to a new server, and if you came to us through an outdated
link, it would help us greatly if you would inform that webmaster that we have
a new address.
Now, on to this May issue! We have a couple of articles for you this month.
The first is from Terry, who gives us a run-down on the recent "Small Things"
on our show, from flashbacks to day players. In addition, Joan takes on the mega-crossovers
of Rae Cummings, now that she's come and gone from Port Charles. After you read
her opinion, feel free to send in your own at the feedback form or in email; we'd
by happy to have some reader mail on the subject--or on any subject you like!
Aside from the new design, the new thing I'm most excited about is the desktop
wallpaper you'll find under the "Say Cheese!" heading. Finally, we have a review
of the month of February, which held the revelation that Sonny was the father
of Carly's baby, Valentine's Day events, and the revelation that Lucky was alive.
So enjoy, and remember, we love reader mail!
GH in Review
by Amy McWilliams
This month's review covers the month of February on GH. It was
a sweeps month, so there were lots of big revelations. Next month I hope to bring
you all of March, as well as picking up at least one week or so from the period
late last year that we skipped over in past reviews.
As always, thanks go to the GH
Transcripts Page. I depend on it as well as the daily updates from the official
ABC website and r.a.t.s.a. Thanks also to everybody on the GH side
of the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.tv.soaps.abc for their discussion of the show,
and to the other editors, whose discussion always informs my own opinions and
makes the show so much more fun to watch.
GH in Review: February
Small Things: The Good, The Bad, and the Possibilities
by Teresa Leslie
Teresa Leslie's column focuses on the small, seemingly insignificant things
on GH. When noticed and considered, however, these little details illuminate
many things about the characters and plots. This time, Terry covers recent small
things on the show, talking about Carly and Sonny, Lucky, and sneaking in a bit
about Roy and Bobbie and all the bit players we've had on of late.
Small Things
"And Another Thing...": Rae Ipsa Loquitor
by Joan Roseman
Never one to mince words, Joan Roseman's opinion column has covered a
wide range of topics. This month, she takes a look at the crossover character
deluxe, Ray Cummings. Taking into consideration Rae's time in Port Charles as
well as on the otehr ABC soaps, Joan expresses her displeasure at this attempt
by the network to manipulate the viewers.
"And Another Thing..."
Say Cheese!
I'm thrilled to be able to offer our first GHR desktop wallpaper!
I have always wanted to do it, but only now that we have unlimited server space
am I able to. I hope that you enjoy it, and do write in and let me know if there
are any characters you'd like to see featured in the future.
"Say Cheese!" will continue to offer regular photos as well, but I'll try
to have at least one new wallpaper each month, and will have a page of "Past Wallpapers"
so that you can easily come back to those you didn't download the first time around.
For now, here are Nikolas, Elizabeth, and Lucky from the cover of the May
16th, 2000 issue of ABC Soaps in Depth and Sonny and Carly from the May
9th, 2000 issue of Soap Opera Weekly. Enjoy!
Say Cheese!
Featured Web Page
The first site we're featuring this month is brand new. As such, it hasn't
proven its staying power, but its content is so novel and helpful that we couldn't
pass it up. "General Hospital Episodes" offeres just that--full episodes of GH
in realplayer format.
The episodes are streaming video, so though I could play them, I was unable
to download them. While my modem had a hard time keeping up, meaning that the
video skipped hung a bit, the quality looks good--not splotchy like real video
sometimes is. So while I would hope the site would offer downloadable files in
the future, and while they only offer episodes back through the last week in April,
this site could become a great source of the ultimate updates for GH fans.
(They do have the episdoes that Time Warner Cable customers missed due to the
blackout.) You will need to have RealPlayer on your computer, but the site does
offer a link to the download site.

Next, we're featuring a page dedicated to Mitch Longley, the actor who plays
Dr. Matt Harmon over on Port Charles. Mitch is leaving the show, and this
page offers a way for fans to leave good-bye messages for him. They'll be printed
and delivered in May, the site says, so hurry and visit. The site also has the
standard fare, including a ton of articles on Longley as well as a photo gallery.
The design is nice and easy to navigate, and I just love the opening photo.

issue, you can do so at the feedback form.
