Roy and Bobbie:
- Bobbie and Roy convince Laura and Lulu to join them for their picnic. Roy
takes Lulu off towards the fair while she and Bobbie talk, and then Bobbie takes
Lulu for face painting while Roy and Laura talk. Later, Laura and Lulu head home,
but Tony and Lucas arrive; Lucas wanted to spend the holiday with family. (7/4)
- Things are tense between Tony and Roy, but also because of all of Lucas's
references to Jerry. (7/5)
- Bobbie and Roy are ready to head to Hawaii. Roy asks Mike to watch Luke's
for him, and Bobbie checks in at Kelly's, where she speaks with Luke and Scott.
Then it's off to the airport. (7/7)
- Stuck at the airport, Roy is really down about not being able to give Bobbie
the first-class treatment he wants for her. Bobbie says that the only thing that
matters is that they're together. (7/11)
- Meanwhile, back home Mike makes plans to start the house game up without checking
in with Roy first. (7/11)
- While Mike looks forward to the poker game, Bobbie and Roy enjoy their trip.
Bobbie suggests a cruise, and then backs off when she realizes that Roy's uncomfortable.
But he surprises her with the tickets, and she tells him that she doesn't need
things, just him. He tells her that he wants things for her, but that it'll just
take some time. (7/12)
- Roy gets jealous when he sees a wealthy man talking with Bobbie. They don't
let it spoil their evening completely, though. (7/13)
I. The Fourth of July Picnic (7/4)
Roy: "Oh, look, it's my favorite Lulu. Look at you, all red, white, and blue."
Roy: "Oh, well, the fair's going to have to wait. I mean, you guys got to
pull up some blanket. Bobbie cooked for 47."
Bobbie: "Well, that's because somebody here eats for 45."
Laura: "He is so great with her."
Bobbie: "Yeah. Well, you know, that's because he loves children."
Laura: "Yeah. Must be hard not to get caught up in the 'if onlys', huh?"
Bobbie: "Well, I do think about it sometimes. A little girl with dark curly hair.
But you know what? To tell you the truth, after everything we've been through,
I'm just grateful to have him back."
Laura: "20 years is a long time."
Bobbie: "Yeah, 20 years is a lifetime. And Roy worries about, you know, all of
those lost years because he doesn't have a pension or a savings account or a resume."
Laura: "Well, he will."
Bobbie: "You know what? Doesn't matter to me whether he does or not. The way we
feel about each other--Laura, it's better than it ever was."
Laura: "Wow. Maybe it's because you appreciate being given a second chance. Hang
on to that, Bobbie."
Bobbie: "With both hands, believe me."
Bobbie: "I was sorry to hear about Stefan."
Laura: "Thanks. I'm sorry about a lot of things. But you know what? Today is a
beautiful day, and Lulu is having a great time, and nobody seems to have invited
Helena."
Bobbie: "Certainly not me."
Laura: "So I'm going to declare independence from all negative thoughts, bad memories,
and gloomy forecasts. So--quick--tell me something happy."
Bobbie: "I jumped out of a plane."
Laura: "You did? Oh, my god. You wild woman."
Laura:
"Luke's got me to jump out of an airplane once, but at least I had my own parachute."
Bobbie: "Well, believe me, we hung on."
Laura: "Yeah. I bet that was a real hardship, wasn't it?"
Laura: "When Luke and I used to go tearing off--oh, it was like a high-wire
act with no net. Just the two of us. You know what I mean? I think I'm breaking
my own rules."
Bobbie: "Didn't seem like such a bad memory."
Laura: "No, it's not. But it is over."
Laura:
"Bobbie is a great cook, isn't she?"
Roy: "Bobbie is a great everything."
Roy: "I know that scared her to death."
Laura: "Yeah, but it's that good kind of fear, though, you know? The kind that
you live to tell the tale about."
Roy: "There you go. But, you know, you've been there--you and Luke."
Laura: "Once upon a time."
Roy: "He still loves you."
Laura: "Well, yeah, I guess he sort of has to because I'm the mother of his children."
Roy: "No, no. I mean, like, the real deal. That feeling--it's still there. For
both of you, probably."
Laura:
"What is it about people in love? You know, it's sweet. You're all so happy that
you want everybody else to be as happy as you are. And I appreciate it. I really
do. And I admit that there is more between Luke and me than just our kids, you
know. There is a certain kind of a bond that can't seem to be broken. But I think
there's been way too much pain and way too much disappointment. You know, you
can only open up your heart and your soul so many times, and--you know what I
mean?"
Bobbie:
"You're moving?"
Roy: "Yeah. I think I need some more privacy."
Bobbie: "Well, there's a lot of privacy at the brownstone. And since we already
know how much you like my cooking--"
Roy: "I love your cooking. But I can't live with you."
Roy: "You need to charge a reasonable rent. I can't afford it."
Bobbie: "Who said anything about charging you rent? If we're living together--"
Roy: "You know, I need to pull my share."
Roy:
"I just don't that it's a good idea for me to be moving in with Lucas's mother.
I think he's got enough on his plate right now without some new guy at the breakfast
table."
Bobbie: "You are so wrong about that. He would love having a man around the house."
Bobbie: "Well, hi, honey. What are you doing here? I thought you and your
dad were going on a church picnic."
Tony: "Well, Lucas wanted a family one instead."
