Roy and Bobbie (cont.):
II. The Picnic Continues (7/5)
Tony: "So, Roy, what do you do for a living now?"
Roy: "I'm managing Luke's club."
Bobbie: "Uncle Luke trusts Roy so much, he trusts him to take care of everything
when he's gone because he's looking after the menu and the music."
Lucas: "Do you get to wear a tuxedo?"
Roy: "No, no. I leave the black and white stuff to the penguins."
Lucas: "Jerry had lots of tuxedos."
Roy: "Who's thunder, your dog?"
Lucas: "He's my pet pony. Jerry gave him to me."
Bobbie: "I'm sure if you asked very nicely, Roy would be very happy to teach
you how to do that."
Lucas: "Would you?"
Roy: "Sure."
III. The Trip to Hawaii Begins (7/7)
Roy: "My limo awaits?"
Bobbie: "Well, actually, it's my car, but who cares about minor details on a day
like this?"
Bobbie: "Well, actually, I'm early, but I just figured, you know, if we have
to wait, we might as well wait at the airport. We can go in and look at tacky
souvenirs and have a drink and watch the planes take off and anticipate our boarding
call."
Roy: "As if we were going to Hawaii, you and me. Who says dreams don't come true."
Bobbie: "I never would. Not anymore."
Roy: "Luke made me promise under penalty of death that I would never leave
Claude alone to handle the club."
Mike: "Fear of boy band?"
Roy: "More like raging paranoia."
Mike:
"However, fair warning--I might not rate as sufficient butt covering if Luke decides
to get ticked about you taking off."
Roy: "Well, you know, my man will have to deal with that because my first and
only obligation at this point in time is to this trip, which has literally been
20 years in the making. There's no way I can miss it."
Bobbie: "So, I've never asked--have you ever made it there in the last 20
years?"
Roy: "Hawaii? No, no. The F.B.I., you know, they weren't big on letting you choose
your own location. Besides, there was no way I wanted to go there without you."
Bobbie: "Same here."
Roy: "So why don't we blow this pop stand. Come on."
From
Terry's update: "Luke's office: Roy is working when Bobbie enters, wearing a lovely
pastel green sheath dress that actually doesn't display her ample breasts. She
tells Roy she thought they could leave early for their trip to Hawaii and wait
at the airport. He has stuff to take care of, however, before he can leave, so
she heads over to Kelly's while he finishes up."
"This was my first 'What Are You Thinking?' scene. I just don't understand
why Roy and Bobbie are so anxious to get to Hawaii RIGHT THIS MINUTE. Gee, they
waited 20 years for the honeymoon they never had, now they can't wait until they
get married to take the honeymoon? Roy can't wait another day to boink Bobbie
in some setting besides Port Charles? Like the Caribbean doesn't count? Bobbie's
children have had so much quality time with Momma lately that they can just cope
while she bops off to Hawaii for a vacation? (I refer not only to little Lucas,
but to troubled Carly as well) And does Bobbie ever work as a nurse these days?
How much vacation time has she accrued? She just got back from their Caribbean
adventure, and prior to that she was off being kidnapped. *G* I want her benefits
package."
Judy: "Surely, General Hospital has a leave policy in place for kidnap
victims, not to mention the forthcoming 'recovery sex vacation' benefits."
Terry's update continues: "Mike shows up to see Roy, who has invited him over
to ask him a favor. Can Mike watch Luke's for Roy while he's out of town? Luke
made Roy promise not to leave Claude unsupervised; 'Fear of boy bands?' Mike asks
with a laugh. Mike agrees to keep an eye on things, but says that Luke may not
like it. Roy counters that, 'My first and only obligation at this time is to this
trip, which has literally been 20 years in the making.' What Is He Thinking? It's
bad enough that we are to believe that Roy and Bobbie simply have to have this
vacation right this minute (doubtless so Zeman and Martinez can have theirs),
but we are also to think that conscientious Roy would wait until 10 minutes before
he walks out the door to arrange for alternative management of Luke's? And that,
if Claude is out of the question, he wouldn't at least ask someone who doesn't
have his own place to run as well, as Roy mentioned in their conversation. What
about Laura? Or, since having one's own business to run doesn't disqualify, why
not Tammy, who already runs a business for Luke?"
"Roy is waiting when Bobbie arrives. They kiss and coo and take off for Hawaii."
