The Cassadines (cont.):

IV. Stefan Finds a New Approach (7/7)

Stefan: "Letting my mother believe she succeeded in poisoning me is good strategy. Presumed dead, I can take her unaware. But it effectively isolates me from her playing field."

Stefan: "I need an inside source."
Woman: "But you have one--Andreas."
Stefan: "Who is in my mother's bed as well as her employ. I need someone loyal only to me."

Helena's voice: "It would seem so. In any event, I'll have to keep a much closer eye on her."
Stefan: "Get me everything you can on Chloe Morgan."

From Terry's update for this episode: "Stefan's hideaway: Stefan, in a tan pullover shirt (aw, he's got clothes on today, dang it), is standing on the balcony in the dark, looking pensive. The mystery blonde (I think of her as Fifi, although I don't think we've heard her name), wearing a black slip dress, comes up behind him. 'So quiet, so intense, so very far from me. What can I do to bring you back?' she asks, with a thick French accent. He walks back into the house with her--candles blaze everywhere. Fifi asks if his mind is with his mother, and he declares her perceptive. (I hope the irony was intentional.) I notice for the first time that while I've heard that the blonde is supposed to look sorta like Laura, she reminds me more of Chloe. Hmmm."

"'What has Helena done?' Fifi wants to know. Stefan says he doesn't know enough about what Helena is up to, and that pretending to be dead limits his options for keeping an eye on her. He needs a source of information who is loyal only to him, unlike Andreas, who is sleeping with Helena, he muses as he pours himself a drink."

"Okay, this was a 'What Is He Thinking' scene of a different, better sort. I am intrigued by my gorgeous Steffie, and wonder who he has in mind as an accomplice--the lovely Fifi? Alexis? Nikolas? Only time will tell."

"Stefan is listening to another CD of his mother talking to Andreas, while a male servant hovers in the background. Helena talks about Chloe knowing Stefan was poisoned, which catches Stefan's attention. 'Get me everything you can on Chloe Morgan,' he orders."

Judy: "I had originally thought his comment pertained to Chloe, but that would surely bring on another 'What is He Thinking?' comment of an entirely different--read, unflattering--sort. Stefan has no reason to trust this little slip of a thing, knowing how much she distrusts him (for good reason, but still, it makes her unreliable). I would love to have it be Alexis, but I think she just disqualified herself by offering Jax the option of bilking Nikolas out of his inheritance. And since Nik is busy trying to dispose of bodies and such, I have to go with Fifi."

"Now this could be entertaining on more than one level. Me, I'd love to see a backburner romance crop up between Andreas and Fifi (who is, in nearly all respects, a female Andreas). Just think of the stories and sex tips they could exchange! Wouldn't mother and son just die to know that their respective boy/girl-toys were indeed toying with one another? On the other hand, it could bring mother and son closer to realizing that Oedipal fantasy they share (without fear of incest being added to their growing list of crimes) via the love-connection made by their bed-mates."

Terry: "About that maid, whose name I don't think we've heard--I think of her as Fifi, I know I was told that she's supposed to look vaguely Laura-ish. But on Friday, I realized that she looks vaguely Chloe-ish to me. Am I nuts?"

Amy: "Actually, there was a moment where we cut to that bedroom and she was walking across in a black little thing and I thought it was Carly, and we were seeing Sonny's bedroom in the tropics."

"But who's that guy? I was hoping Stefan would refer to him as either
'Reese' or 'Gibbon' so we'd finally put a name with the face. I loved it, speaking of Cassadine support staff, when Lucky referred to Winders as 'that weird guy,' or whatever it was."

Judy: "I'll have to look again, but to me, she resembles neither, except for hair-color."

"I think that whole conversation was foreshadowing Chloe's role in all of this. I think she's going to be the new source of information. Although, I could see him enlisting Alexis in order to get Chloe to cooperate."

"But I do like the idea of him sending Fifi (love your name for her!) off to be his eyes and ears in PC. It would crack me up to see a rather warped version of the Reggie/Leticia romance crop up between her and Andreas (they have so much in common, after all!). But does the girl speak English well enough? (She didn't at first, but seems to have improved since the early days, so perhaps...)."
