Sonny and Carly (cont.):

I. Stay Just a Little Bit Longer (7/3)

Carly: "Is it dangerous? I mean, is it just going to cost you money, or is somebody going to try to take you out?"
Sonny: "Take me where? For dinner, to the movies?"
Carly: "Don't make fun of me. I'm being serious."
Sonny: "We already settled this. You get to know nothing about my business. And trust me--you're not going to learn anything watching old James Cagney movies. It's just going to scare you."
Carly: "I would never ask you to do something that would endanger you--"
Sonny: "Right."
Carly: "Or weaken your position, you know. But I just--"
Sonny: "Ok, you know--we'll stay. If that's what you're asking, that's what you need, we'll stay."

Carly: "You were right to bring me here. I understand now how whacked out I was. I mean, I'd have to be to try to kill A.J. I'd be in Ferncliff right now if it weren't for you. Like tonight--"
Sonny: "Yeah?"
Carly: "Everything was great."
Sonny: "Mm-hmm."
Carly: "And then I was so happy, and you said, 'we have to go home.' Well, I wasn't just disappointed. It was like falling off a cliff. And it shouldn't be like that. You know? But it is. And I think that that means that I'm not ready to go back."
Sonny: "Well, it's good you know that."
Carly: "Well, it's complicating your business because it's not really fair to you, and I'm sure Benny's going to be upset."
Sonny: "Benny's always upset. I mean, that's the way he likes to be. That's why I pay him so much--so he--so he can worry so I don't have to."
Carly: "Oh, please. Come on. You worry more than anybody."
Sonny: "Yeah, but I don't--not for the same things Benny does."

Sonny: "I like it here. I mean, I didn't before. But the quiet made me think about, you know, what I would leave behind."
Carly: "Quiet's hard sometimes, huh?"
Sonny: "You know, the first time--ahem--Jason brought Michael down here, I was kind of excited, you know, to show him the place. You know, my own casino, my own island. You know, wow, it's so big."
Carly: "Yeah, he probably really thought the casino was boring."
Sonny: "Yeah, you got it. But he liked the beach, though, so he'd take Michael to go swimming. One time we were hanging out afterwards, and he looked at me, and he said, 'you hate it here.' And I realized he was right. I did."
Carly: "He did that to me once, too, about Tony. Now, did you admit that he was right?"
Sonny: "Well, I told him I--I--I hated it sometimes, you know. But I stayed. And I--and I fished, and I swam, and I drank up the quiet. This is someplace where I should be happy, you know? I mean, you tease me about the catholic school, you know, but one thing the nuns teach you is you should always be grateful. And I look around, and I--and I say to myself, god, I got everything I ever wanted, you know--money, power, a beautiful place to live. I--I feel free, you know. I felt, you know--it was great. I had all kinds of women all over the place."
Carly: "Oh, yeah, I bet. Maria?"
Sonny: "Well, Maria, she's a good person. What are you talking about?"
Carly: "How good?"
Sonny: "[laughs] If I had everything I wanted, why would this place feel like a prison?"
Carly: "It wasn't where you wanted to be."
Sonny: "Maybe now it is. You said this--this place is like magic? Maybe so. But only since you and Michael have been here."
