Day 2: Episodes of August 8 - August 15 (six episodes)

The Auction

Gia, who has been hired as the "Face of Deception" to appear at the auction, is surprised to find out that it was Helena who had hired her, not Nikolas, as she had suspected. Soon it becomes clear that Helena had hired her so she can spy on Nikolas and his attitude toward Gia. Helena observes Nikolas on a security screen as he apologizes to Gia for having mistreated her. Stavros joins Helena and ridicules her for believing that Nikolas is sincere in giving up Gia and returning to the family. Helena is stunned when Stavros tells her that he plans to attend the auction with Gia as his date. He then reveals that he was kidding, while a messenger delivers a diamond necklace to Gia with Lucien's regrets that he had been called away on business. Gia is thrilled with Lucien's impeccable manners and generosity.

Luke appears outside the auction door engaged in a spirited internal battle. Reasonable Luke prods the altered Luke to go into the auction and stir up trouble. Helena is making her opening remarks as Luke enters. Helena welcomes him, but Luke disrupts the proceedings, making fun of Scott's purchase of a painting for Laura. Luke asks Helena to tell the attendees about her medical experiments in the basement. He adds that Nikolas is plotting against the Cassadines and plans to bring the family down. Nikolas responds by punching Luke. Helena asks Mac and Taggert to remove Luke from the auction. Alexis offers to represent Luke in court in exchange for the truth about Nikolas and his return to the family. Luke declines her offer. Taggert handcuffs him to a wall and goes to get a squad car. Luke's inner voice urges him to get away and when Taggert returns, Luke is gone.

Helena tries to reassure Stavros that Nikolas is on their side, but Stavros doesn't buy it. He tells Helena that she's a fool to believe Nikolas would suddenly take her side after having been raised his whole life to hate her. He tells her that he will follow up and assure himself of his son's loyalty through his own means.

Stefan asks Nikolas if Luke's claim is true and offers Nikolas his support. Nikolas claims that Luke was lying and humiliates his uncle. Stefan leaves the auction house followed by Chloe.

Gia approaches Nikolas and asks him if Luke's claim is true. Nikolas denies that he is plotting against the Cassadines. Gia begs him to tell her the truth and vows to stand by him if he would. Concealing his pain, Nikolas tells Gia to leave him alone. Gia returns to her duties at the auction.

The auction resumes. Alexis bids on a statue. Edward begins to bid against her, but Ned, seeing how much Alexis wants the statue, asks Edward to stop. Holding the statue, Alexis approaches Helena and reminds her how much she had loved the statue as a child. Suddenly, Alexis smashes the statue to bits and declared that she would do the same thing to Helena if she continued to try and hurt anyone she cared about.

Monica and Alan argue over Monica's coldness towards Skye. Monica bids on a bracelet, but is shocked when Alan bids against her and buys the bracelet for Skye. He tells Monica he won't stand for Monica's mistreatment of Skye and gives the bracelet to Skye who is elated.

Edward bids on a ring for Lila, but a voice from the back of the room offers a million dollars for it. Stunned, everyone turns around to see Jax standing in the doorway. Jax gets the ring and adds that he will buy everything else that is left. Helena takes him to another room while Nikolas announces that the auction is over.

Jax's Return

Everyone wants to know where Jax has been. Ned asks him about Brenda, but Jax defers the topic. Edward and Monica approach him about voting to get Skye off the ELQ board. Jax asks Alexis and Ned about Chloe and goes to see her.

Skye is intrigued by Jax and tries to pump AJ for information. AJ tells her to watch out for him as he can get her thrown off the ELQ board. Skye muses that a man like Jax must have an Achilles heel and AJ tells her how Jax had given up on his plan of dismantling ELQ simply because Chloe had asked him to. Skye is even more intrigued by Jax and says she cannot wait to get to know him better.

Chloe Receives a Proposal

On Spoon Island, Chloe, who had followed Stefan out of the auction, suggests that it is time for Stefan to leave the family. Stefan replies that he would do so only if she were by his side. Stefan proposes marriage to Chloe while Stavros eavesdrops on their conversation. As they talk, an alarm goes off, and Stefan goes to investigate. Lucien/Stavros (who had set off the false alarm) approaches Chloe, claiming that he had seen the light from the pier and decided to come see Stefan. He mentions to her that had been involved with the Cassadines on a matter related to the Karikos Group, one of his holding companies.

Stefan returns after Lucien/Stavros leaves and Chloe asks him about Lucien Kane. Stefan says he has never heard of him and Chloe repeats Lucien's claim about the Karikos Group. Stefan replies that Chloe must have heard the name wrong and adds that "karikos," meaning worthless, was a nickname Stavros used to call him. Stefan brings up marriage again and Chloe replies that although she cares for Stefan, she needs time to think about the proposal. Chloe begs for some time alone and Stefan leaves.

Chloe Gets a Backbone

Chloe is stunned when Jax suddenly appears before her and expresses concern about her. She quickly regains her composure and slaps Jax across the face telling him he has no right to be concerned about her. She mentions the "Dear Jane" letter he had written her and Jax asserts that he had written no such letter and that Stefan must have forged his name. He tells her that Stefan had also hired a Brenda look-alike to lure Jax away so Stefan could kidnap Chloe and take advantage of her psychic dreams. Stefan admits to having forged the letter, but defends himself, saying he is a changed man. Chloe is disgusted with both men and leaves. While Jax and Stefan argue, Alexis approaches and attempts to calm them down. She defends Stefan by assuring Jax that Stefan does indeed love Chloe, and that the true culprit in Stefan's kidnapping of Chloe was Helena. Jax tells Alexis that he will help her fight Helena.

Lucien/Stavros Makes Trouble

Chloe sits on a bench on the docks and is approached by Lucien/Stavros. He wants to know if he can help her. Chloe asks him if he could leave a woman he loved and Lucien says not even death could keep him from a woman he loves. Chloe says that she knew all along that Jax was in love with someone else and adds that she never wants to see Stefan again. Lucien suggests she break it off with Stefan and tells Chloe that Stefan always lived in the shadow of his brother Stavros. He suggests she tell Stefan he will never be good enough for her, and he takes his leave.

Stefan arrives on the docks and apologizes to Chloe and promises never to lie to her again. Chloe can't forgive him for the letter he forged and tells him he will never be good enough for her. Stefan is puzzled by her particular choice of words (as those were the same words Stavros would use to belittle Stefan when they were children).

At Luke's, Lucien/Stavros approaches Elton and attempts to find out where Laura might be. Elton is charmed by Lucien's manner, but refuses to disclose Laura's whereabouts.

Luke Visits Bobbie

Luke goes to see Bobbie at the Brownstone and begins talking about Aunt Ruby as though she were alive. Bobbie reminds him that Ruby had died some time ago. Taggert arrives, in pursuit of Luke, and Bobbie convinces Taggert to not arrest Luke so she can get him medical attention. Bobbie calls Tony who comes by and recognizes that Luke has been injected by Helena's toxin. He pulls Bobbie aside and asks her to bring Luke into the hospital in the morning. Meanwhile, Luke, in a deranged state, remembers his dream of the maze, sees Laura's hand reaching for him, and hears her voice. When Bobbie returns to check on Luke, he is gone.

Roy and Melissa Go Camping

Roy picks up Melissa to take her camping. On the way, the car runs out of gas and they break into a gas station where they are confronted by the owner's friend. Melissa saves the day by pretending to be the niece of the owner. (Yes, it was as bad as it sounds. And no, I have no idea what the purpose was.)

At the campsite, Roy and Melissa reveal that neither one of them had gone camping before and didn't know what to do. They manage to put up the tent and try to enjoy their adventure. They build a fire, and after writing their troubles on pieces of paper, they burn the papers, symbolically releasing their troubles as well. (Yawn.)

Their evening is cut short by a bear invading the campsite. The big bad bear (that actually seemed to be dancing or hopping like a circus bear) takes Melissa's chocolate. Melissa gets her chocolate back by talking to the bear and trading the chocolate for a banana. The bear finally goes away, taking with him the car keys. Melissa gets paged to return to the hospital. Roy hot-wires the car and they leave, agreeing that despite all the mishaps, they had liked camping after all. (Whatever. What a waste of talent and time.)
