The Teen Scene (cont.):

I. Sonny Offers Some Advice (7/17)

Elizabeth: "I felt Lucky pulling away ever since he came home. But as long as he didn't say the words, I could keep hoping."
Sonny: "Tonight you stopped?"
Elizabeth: "I can't pretend anymore. He's really gone."

Sonny: "We're a team. You know, you stuck with me that night at the hospital. I--I owe you one."

Elizabeth: "And now he's alive. And I've lost him."

Elizabeth: "Do you remember that--that game we used to play in school--he loves me, he loves me not?"
Sonny: "Not in my school."

Elizabeth: "I just feel like if I could tell him that I love him no matter what, when he's ready, he'll come back."
Sonny: "Or maybe when a person wants out, you got to let them go."

Sonny: "Accept that he's telling you the truth for now."
Elizabeth: "You don't believe he loves me."
Sonny: "I do. But whatever's holding him back, he's got to work out on his own. And this "does he or doesn't he," if it's tough for you, just think what it's doing to him."
Elizabeth: "I know he doesn't mean to hurt me."
Sonny: "But he does. And it keeps happening. So, you know, maybe that's why he wanted to end it, which is why you--you got to let him."

Sonny: "I loved somebody once the way you love Lucky, and she felt the same way. But in the end I--I walked away. I--you know, I--I ended it."
Elizabeth: "Even though you still loved each other?"
Sonny: "Yeah, but, you know, we did too much damage, and in the name of love, you know, it had to end."

Sonny: "She found somebody else, you know, and I couldn't handle it, so I--I went after her again. And I couldn't leave her alone until she was hanging on by a thread. And people said that it was passion, not love. But it was the closest thing I--I ever felt to the real thing, you know."
Elizabeth: "I never thought of love doing more harm than good."

Sonny: "You wake up every morning and you look at your empty life and it hurts like hell. But you still have to let go because you're doing what's right for the other person. You're giving them what they need and that's what gets you through."
Elizabeth: "So the love and the feelings just go on."
Sonny: "You don't deny them. You can't."
Elizabeth: "So you just close the door on what was? All the hopes and trust? It's going to be so hard."
