Letter from the Editor

Happy
Holidays, and welcome to the General Hospital Review!
I've finally put an end to my hellish semester, but I haven't been able to
work on the December issue until this week. It's a short one, then, but hopefully
you'll find enough stuff here to entertain you during the slow spots of your holiday
season. We'll get back on track in the new year, playing a bit of catch up and
moving our publishing date back to the first week of the month. January's issue
may yet be a little late, but we'll finally get things back in order. Thanks for
your patience.
Meanwhile, we do have some good stuff for you this month. Along with another
appearance by our pal Turner in "The Floating Rib" and a "Small Things" piece
by Terry, we have a bit of "GH in Review," as well as all the usual treats in
"Say Cheese!" Look for the Christmas greetings there in the video clips, and check
out our exclusive pics of John Ingle as Santa Claus! And you'll find featured
pages and the new holiday readers' poll below.
So enjoy, and we'll see you in the new millenium!
GH in Review
by Amy McWilliams
I've only gotten through one more week of July this time, so I'll be playing
catch up in earnest when we get to the new year. I hate to skip months again,
but if I get any further behind, I may have to. Perhaps we'll just run photos
for a month, or scale down in some other way to catch up. I'm still working on
it. *G*
As always, thanks go to the GH
Transcripts Page. I depend on it as well as the daily updates from the official
ABC website and r.a.t.s.a. Thanks also to everybody on the GH side
of the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.tv.soaps.abc for their discussion of the show,
and to the other editors, whose discussion always informs my own opinions and
makes the show so much more fun to watch.

The Floating Rib: An Open Letter to Wendy Riche
by Turner Arrington
I named the "Floating Rib" column for a restaurant that appeared as a
staple GH set back in the late '70s and early '80s. Its name fits this
column, which contains a different topic every time it appears. Turner's back
this time, with some thoughts on the departure of GH executive producer
Wendy Riche. (This piece first appeared on the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.tv.soaps.abc.)
Wendy, we all wish you the best, and thank you for your work on our show.
The Floating Rib
Small Things: Laura's House Revisited
by Teresa Leslie
Teresa Leslie's column focuses on the small, seemingly insignificant things
on GH. When noticed and considered, however, these little details illuminate
many things about the characters and plots. This month, Terry returns to a topic
she's addressed before--the Spencer House set--to look at the changes in it, and
in its inhabitant, Laura.

photos of John Ingle as Santa, we've got it all!

Readers' Poll
We've got the final word on your favorite GH staffer--Reginald winds again
with 62% of the vote!--and are on to our holiday poll.

Featured Websites
We're featuring three pages this month, and the first two were recommended
to us by our readers.
First up, "The Coltin Caboodle," a site dedicated to Coltin Scott, the actor
who plays Nikolas Cassadine. This site features lots of photos, articles, and
multimedia, and also offers a source for tapes of Nikolas's past episodes.
The Coltin Caboodle
Next, "The No-Name" is a site dedicated to the history of Sonny and Brenda.
Though there are many sites for this couple out there, this one offers tons of
archives, from photos and transcripts to multimedia sounds and video.
The
No-Name
Finally, here's a site for the PC viewers out there. I'm surprisingly
taken with Alison and Jamal, so I was pleased to find such a nice site--the official
site--for Jamal's portrayer, Kiko Ellsworth. While you must have flash to view
the site, it's got a nice design and good photos--especially the baby pictures.
