| II. He's Just Bobbie's Type (9/26)
Bobbie:
"Why does my brother have to be so determined to go this alone?"
Roy: "You ask as if you think I know the answer."
Bobbie: "Well, you should. You and Luke are two of a kind."
Roy: "Can we be more specific?"
Bobbie: "Mm-hmm. You both keep the people you love at arm's length. You're secretive.
You're risk junkies."
Roy: "Well, since you put it that way--yeah, I think it's true that Luke and I
do prefer doing things on our own, and we both seem to enjoy taking chances. Those
are lifelong habits that are probably going to be difficult to break, but I'd
like to think that I learn from my mistakes. So, yeah, maybe I don't bring you
into everything, but in my head I'm--I'm always asking myself, "how will this
affect Bobbie?" and as a result, I'm making choices differently. I don't want
anything I do to hurt you. Ever."
Bobbie: "I know that. And I know that you don't tell me things because you think
you're protecting me. But sometimes that feels to me like you're keeping a distance,
the same way my brother does. And I don't want that between us. I'm in this for
the long haul, Roy. But I need to know that we're being honest with each other.
We can keep all the secrets we want from the rest of the world, but not from each
other. Because that is what's going to bond us together--the fact that this is
where we bring the truth."
Roy: "I hate it when I make your life difficult."
Bobbie: "When I saw you that night on the pier, it was like flipping to Technicolor
from black and white. Now, it's true that you are very stubborn, and you take
crazy chances that really scare me."
Roy: "Yeah, and those are my good points."
Bobbie: "But you love me like no one else, and I feel exactly the same way about
you."
Roy: "I do love you, baby. I do."
III. Roy's Past Begins to Catch Up With Him (9/26)
Ford:
"Bureau needs you back, Roy. Got another job for you."
Ford: "Hey, speaking of calls--now, I got one from Interpol. Now, it seems
there are a couple of agents in Prague that had a run-in with some guy that was
using a phony I.D. and you know what? The funny part--turned out to be one of
your old aliases. Well, they wanted to pursue it, but I redirected their attention.
So you see, Roy, it's not so bad, is it? I mean, you know, having the F.B.I. on
your side?"
Roy: "Be that as it may, mike, the answer is still no."
Ford: "Had to give it a try."
Roy: "Sure you did."
Ford:
"You remember Leo Bedford?"
Roy: "Leo--oh, sure. That--that kid in Miami, took the fall for that racketeering
thing?"
Roy: "He's dead? Is that what you're saying?"
Ford: "Yeah. Hey, look I know you had some misgivings about, you know, helping
to put Bedford away, but it was just something that had to be done."
Roy: "Get out of here, will you?"
Ford: "Roy--"
Roy: "Get out of here, Mike!"
IV. Bobbie Runs Interference (9/26)
Tony:
"I've said it before, I'll say it again--the last thing our son needs is another
father figure who's on a pit stop between prisons, and you're kidding yourself
if you don't see that."
Bobbie: "Roy is a permanent part of my life. So if you can't handle that,
Tony, that's just too bad."
Tony: "Try to be honest with yourself and about where Roy has an 80% chance of
ending up. You know, the thing with Roy--is it better for you, or is it better
for Lucas?"
Lucas:
"He never visits our house like Jerry did, at least not when I'm there. Did I
do something?"
Lucas: "Why do you keep dating guys who get in trouble?"
Bobbie: "Roy isn't in trouble. He was a long time ago. But if people change, we
have to forgive them, right? So what I've been thinking is maybe, you know, you
and Roy and I could start doing some things together if you'd like."
Terry: "I hate Bobbie, I love Roy, and Tony makes good points, although
he's sure as hell redundant."
Amy: "How does Brad Maule put up with it, when his job is really to
come on every other week once and say that Roy is bad?"
