III. The Family Hears the News (9/12)

Edward: "What the hell kind of name is Zander?"
Monica: "Edward, please!"
Edward: "Sounds like a deviant to me."

Edward: "Well, I was listening to the news earlier. Why didn't I hear about this?"
Hannah: "Mr. Quartermaine, we're proceeding very cautiously. We don't want to add to this man's panic or create a situation where your granddaughter's safety could be jeopardized."

Hannah: "He's young, in his late teens, early 20s. Several of the kids were interviewed and described him as upbeat, friendly."
Edward: "Of course he's friendly. He's pushing dope."

Lila: "Emily is a strong, capable girl."
Ned: "Yes, she is."
Lila: "She'll come home to us. I know she will."

Ned: "Look, I'm going to go home, grab some things, and come back here and stay for the night."
Alan: "You don't need to do that."
Ned: "No, I want to keep an eye on grandfather."

Alan: "Listen, we have to stay positive. Emily is very level-headed."
Monica: "But she is a child, Alan. Come on, Edward is right. This is our fault."

Monica: "What were we thinking? We've been so wrapped up with our jobs and with this pregnancy thing, we've just been neglecting her."
Alan: "Well, if we have, it's going to stop now. And when our daughter comes home--and she will come home--we will show her how much we love her and how important she is to the family."

IV. The Family Reacts (9/13)

Taggert: "Maybe you can get him to cooperate. Your daughter's life may depend on it."

Jason: "You shouldn't be here."
Monica: "Neither should you."
Jason: "I can't tell you any more about what happened to Emily than Lucky or Nikolas can."
Monica: "I didn't come here for that. I came to be with you."

Monica: "For the longest time, I really thought I had lost you. But here we are. Not exactly the reunion I had in mind, but--but you're here. That gives me faith that Emily won't be lost to me."
Jason: "I promise you, as soon as they let me out, I'm going after Emily."

Ned: "I just can't help thinking if I hadn't distanced myself from the family, this wouldn't have happened."
Alexis: "You're not going to start blaming yourself for what happened to Emily, now, are you?"
Ned: "She should've been able to reach out to me. Instead, she went to Lucky and Nikolas."
Alexis: "She's a teenager. Teenagers go to their friends, they don't go to their family."
Ned: "Yes. But I didn't let her know that she could come to me for help no matter what."

Ned: "You two aren't planning any more detective work, I hope."

Ned: "This is something Lucky would do, not you."
Nikolas: "We did it together."

Ned: "My cousin is being held hostage, and you were in contact with the man who took her. So now you're going to tell me everything you know about Zander--names, places--anything that will help us find her before it's too late."

Monica: "I thought maybe the reason you were back was because she'd confided in you."
Jason: "No."
Monica: "What is with this family? Nobody trusts anybody, even in a crisis."

Alan: "You are the one that taught her to mistrust the police, reject her family, and go to anybody except her parents when she had a problem. If she dies, it's on your head."
A.J.: "Well, this is just like old times, isn't it? Jason's in handcuffs, mom and dad at each other's throats, and I'm in the worst--the worst shape ever. I need a drink bad. Well, what do you say we put our differences aside for once and help Emily?"
Alan: "Well, at least one person in this family's making sense."
Monica: "It certainly isn't you."
A.J.: "Aren't family reunions the greatest?"

Alan: "We may never see Emily again. Don't you have any heart at all?"
Monica: "Why are you taking it out on him? We are responsible for what's happening to Emily, not him."
Alan: "Because he can help her and he's not!"
Monica: "Well, then why don't you go out there and ask your good buddy Taggert to release him? He's not doing Emily any good sitting here in handcuffs."
Alan: "He's not going to do Emily any good if he finds Zander and gets her killed!"

Jason: "What do you want?"
A.J.: "A simple answer, yes or no--if you get out of here, can you really find Emily?"

Edward: "You know, she lights up this place. She's like you in that way. And I cannot imagine life here without either of you."
Lila: "Oh."
Edward: "Oh, thank god you're here, Lila. I could not get through this without you."

Ned: "I thought that I could trust you to take care of her. Now, I know Lucky's a loose cannon, but I thought that she was safe with you."

Alan: "He is responsible. Emily has modeled her life after him, rejecting her family, rejecting authority."
Monica: "Ooh, you sound more like your father every day."
Alan: "Our daughter worships a criminal and look what it got her."
Monica: "Our daughter worships her brother, the only man in her life who is strong, not overbearing, who's had to overcome incredible obstacles to put his life back together after his brother almost destroyed it."
Alan: "Emily would not have been at that rave if it wasn't for Jason's influence over her."
Monica: "Emily would not have been at that rave if you hadn't given her permission."
Alan: "Oh, so now it's my fault that Emily's been kidnapped?"
Monica: "Yes, it's your fault and it's my fault. We have neglected her terribly."
Alan: "How can you say that? We're always here."
Monica: "Yes, wrapped up in each other. We have neglected Emily and what she needs. No wonder she doesn't want to come to us for help. Edward is absolutely right. We were so caught up in wanting to have another child, we ignored the one that needs us the most."
Alan: "You're right. Here we are looking for a second chance, it's staring us right in the face."

Alan: "Nothing's going to happen to her. We have to believe that. And when she comes home--and she will come home, Monica--we have to promise each other that we'll never neglect her again, ok?"

A.J.: "Look, I'm just asking you to let him out. Who cares if he doesn't play by the rules? He's our best chance to get Emily back. You know it and I know it. Just do it, man, before it's too late."

Ned: "This seems to be my day for alienating people. I just said some things to Nikolas."
Alexis: "Well, you know something? He had it coming because I myself want to throttle him for not coming to us first."

Alexis: "I'm not defending Nikolas, but I do understand him. In light of everything that's been happening to him, he has this need to take charge of everything himself, whether it's Cassadine estate or L&B or Helena."

Ned: "Why does something like this have to happen to Emily, of all people?"
Alexis: "I can't answer that. But I know that she's smart, I know that she is tough, and she can handle things better than most. She will get out of this. I really believe that."
Ned: "Well, keep reminding me, ok?"

Taggert: "Don't tell me you agree with A.J."
Hannah: "In this case I do."

Hannah: "Your brother better not blow it."
A.J.: "He won't."

A.J.: "No thank-you?"
Jason: "When I bring Emily home safely, that's your thanks."
