Letter from the Editor

Welcome to the General Hospital Review!

We're running a bit late and light this month; life has intervened for several of us, and we haven't had time enough for this issue. We're going to be re-evalutating the GHR before the May issue, looking for ways to stay more up-to-date and revitalize the content.

But here in April we've got a bit of "GH in Review" for you, another in Arda's series of articles on Luke Spencer under the "A Study in Character" header, as well as goodies in "Say Cheese!" Enjoy!

We don't have a poll this month; you'll find the results of the last one, as well as a new question, in the next issue (you can also see the results from the poll page in the last issue). If you have a question you'd like to see in a poll, send it it!

One other note: several of you wrote in to ask where the GH Transcripts page went; it has apparently been offline and/or not updated in recent weeks since our last issue. We have no confirmation, but rumor has it (from a post on soapzone.com) that ABC is shutting down transcript sites for copyright violation. We haven't heard from them ourselves, but if we are asked to remove all or some of our material, we will do so.

Thanks for reading!

GH in Review
by Amy McWilliams

This month's review covers episodes from the first week of October 2000. As I said in my opening note, we're reconsidering what to do with the review; we're perpetually behind and need to find a way to stay up to date, shedding some bulk and highlighting our own comments over the episode summaries. You can still expect quotes and photos, but look for a new format coming in May; we'll also be skipping ahead to recent months.

As always, thanks go to the GH Transcripts Page. I depend on it as well as the daily updates from the official ABC website and r.a.t.s.a. Thanks also to everybody on the GH side of the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.tv.soaps.abc for their discussion of the show, and to the other editors, whose discussion always informs my own opinions and makes the show so much more fun to watch.

GH in Review: Week of October 2

A Study in Character: Luke and Miles
by Arda Darakjian Clark

About once a year, Arda comes to us with an idea for a character study of Luke Spencer. She's done Luke as Existentialist (vol. 1, iss. 9) and Luke as Hipster (vol. 2, iss. 12); now she brings us her take on Luke Spencer by way of Miles Davis, one of Luke's favorite musicians. We like to think of it as "Thirteen Ways of Looking at Luke Spencer." But then, we love him to, and hope Arda will get around to all thirteen one of these years.

Say Cheese!

This month the video clips and screen captures cover lots of different characters and stories, while the wallpaper brings you shades of spring. Finally, some couples from the past show up in scans.
