Letter from the Editor
by Amy McWilliams
Welcome to the General Hospital Review!
First, a reply to several emails we received over the past month: We answered
this question in our reader mail column last time, but apparently I didn't draw
enough attention to it. So here goes, up front: yes, this Carly recast is intended
to be permanent. Sarah Brown says that she left amicably to pursue other interests.
To the many of you who wrote in asking about the new Carly (Tamara Braun), I'm
sorry we don't have time to answer questions like that in the course of the month;
when we get several letters asking the same thing, we do try to bring you the
answer in the next issue, generally in the reader mail column.
And now down to business! This month I'm very happy to have another editor
taking a turn at the review (and thanks again to Judy for covering April in the
last issue; the opening letter from the last issue talks about the changes we're
making in "GH in Review," if you missed it): Arda has stepped up to
the plate with a detailed account of the sweeps month of may, including her own
comments along the way. Terry's finally written her entry on "How We Watch,"
also giving her general responses to the show in recent weeks. We've got a couple
of "Quick Takes" from Judy, Joan, and me, as well as all the regular
goodies in "Say Cheese." There's a new poll, and more featured webpages.
Finally, as I put this issue together I realized that I hadn't linked to the
April issue in the archives; I apologize if you couldn't get there to finish reading
the issue. Everything's up to date now.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy!
GH in Review: May Sweeps
by Arda Darakjian Clark
Arda's review of May moves day by day--but would it surprise you to know that
the material that month only covered five days of life in Port Charles? She runs
down everything that happened this sweeps period, and offers her opinions on events
and characters throughout.
And no, we aren't skipping March; I've been busier than expected here at the
beginning of June, and am going to run my review of that month in the next issue
so I can include some photos. I'll also try to have photos of some things from
April and May, since we didn't include any in our reviews of those months. Never
fear; for those of you who like the photos, they aren't going away.
Thanks go to the daily updates from the official
ABC website. Thanks also to everybody on the GH side of the Usenet
newsgroup rec.arts.tv.soaps.abc for their discussion of the show, and to the other
editors, whose discussion always informs my own opinions and makes the show so
much more fun to watch.

How We Watch: An Extended Rant
by Teresa Leslie
"How We Watch" is a column dedicated to sharing the stories of our soap viewing.
Amazed as we all were to realize it, Terry has never written an entry. Here she
is, finally, telling about her style of watching, and commenting on the state
of GH at present.
How We Watch
Quick Takes
This feature offers short comments by our editors on a variety of topics. This
month, Judy and I both ponder things musical, while I also share my Lucky epiphany.
Meanwhile, Joan takes on the Cassadines.

Say Cheese!
We've got stuff from the 90s in clips, captures, and scans, as well as some red
and blue wallpaper (and a little Cassadine treat) in preparation for July 4th.

Readers' Poll
Last time around you told us about your favorite newcomer. This time, let us know
which character you'd most like to see back on GH (though not necessarily
frozen).

Featured Websites
This month we're back with more featured websites, both recommended to us by
our readers. First, "The Susan Brown Fan Page," dedicated to the actress
who plays Gail Baldwin on GH and PC, includes information on all
of Brown's career, offering photos (some from Brown's personal collection), fan
fiction, and much more. There were a handful of pop-ups on the front page when
I visited recently, but the page itself is well worth closing a few windows.

And second, here's another great Quartermaine page--I once noted that I had
trouble finding good Q pages, so people have been nice enough to send a few suggestions
my way. The "Stuart Damon Website" has a fabulous design with easy navigation,
and includes lots of good material--from interviews and photos to sound and video.

issue, you can do so at the feedback form or send us an email.
