Ned and Alexis:
- When Ned learns that there's an offer to buy L&B, he asks Alexis if she wants
him to quit as Eddie Maine. She tells him that she wants him to be happy, but
that she can't travel with him. She worries that she'll lose Ned in the bargain,
and he assures her that Eddie is just a job. (7/25)
- Alexis takes Sonny and Roy their paperwork from the FBI deal. (7/27)
- She celebrates with a drink at Roy's, and then has a run-in with Helena on
the docks on her way to find Ned so that he can convince her that she's not predictable.
(7/28)
- When Ned comes to meet Alexis at Luke's, as per her instructions, he finds
her talking with AJ. AJ wants to let her know exactly why she shouldn't stay with
Ned. Ned and Alexis take their party elsewhere. (7/31)
I. On the Road Again (7/25)
Alexis: "It was the second encore of your last show and I was standing backstage
eating stale potato chips with a girl with blue hair and I noticed a man in a
suit. You see, we lawyers, we can spot each other a mile away. And he came over
and it turns out that he's lead counsel for multi music group, so we, you know,
talked for a little bit and then he leaned over and he said, 'great set.' I thought
he said, 'great sex.' The music was so loud. Anyway, he meant you--I mean, Eddie
Maine."
Ned: "So how did we end up here?"
Alexis: "Well, we were yelling small talk to each other and all I said was that
'You ought to snap up L&B before we come after you.' You know, it's just lawyer
stuff. I didn't even think he could hear me. In fact--well, you know, the screaming
was so loud. Why do girls scream like that? I'm afraid they'll get laryngitis."
Ned: "Hmm. Well, L&B is not for sale."
Alexis: "Still might be worth a sit-down."
Ned: "Why? Unless you want me to give up rock 'n' roll."
Alexis: "I know how hard you worked for this company. I know how devoted you
are. You defied your family for it. You took huge risks. I get all that. I just
didn't count on Eddie Maine."
Ned: "Sweetheart, you practically pushed Eddie Maine out on to the stage."
Alexis: "I know, but I thought it was for a one-time deal--gig--concert--what
do you call it?"
Ned: "So do you want me to just quit?"
Alexis: "That's not my decision to make."
Ned: "Well, maybe going out of town isn't such a bad--"
Alexis: "I can't leave knowing that Helena murdered my brother."
Alexis: "I'm just not one of those girls with blue hair that lives to say
that she's with the band."
Ned: "You're the one who set Eddie Maine free."
Alexis: "I know. What happened to Ned?"
Ned: "Ned is right here."
Alexis: "I needed that."
Ned: "Does it help to think of Eddie Maine as strictly business? Sort of a rainmaker?"
Alexis: "In leather pants?"
Ned: "Exactly. And all these tours? Nothing but a series of small business trips."
Alexis: "You know, you have a real gift for spin."
Ned: "Is it working?"
Alexis: "Just promise me you won't fall in love with the road."
Amy: "You know, I really enjoy Ned and Alexis, though I've always felt
that they've never had a story. And now, when they might have a story, I find
myself not wanting it to be the exact inversion of Ned and Lois."
"The simplistic version: Lois wants Eddie without Ned. Alexis wants Ned without
Eddie."
"I get it. Can we do something else now?"
"Like Alexis and Roy? Alexis and Sonny? Alexis and Luke? Etc.?"
