Roy and Bobbie:

  • Carly runs into Roy while he's shopping for lamps. She helps him make his choice and carry the lamps home, where they find Bobbie. She's redecorated Roy's whole apartment for him. Bobbie's not at all happy to see Carly with Roy, and doesn't seem to understand when Roy tells her that he wanted to decorate this space himself. (7/25)
  • Roy is horrified when he attacks Bobbie after she surprises him while he's sleeping. She says it's alright, and Hannah does too, but he can't shake the bad feeling about how his past has become a permanent part of him. Alexis brings the paperwork, however, from his deal with the FBI, and he insists on celebrating, despite her warnings about his current associates. (7/27)
  • Roy bowls Alexis over with a drink of the good stuff. Later, he finds an upset Carly sitting outside of Kelly's and lends a listening ear. (7/28)
  • Mike comes to Roy for a loan to cover his debts. Roy balks at first, but after a visit from Sorel, he agrees. Bobbie walks in on the conversation, and wants to know why Roy's meeting with Sorel. He brushes off her concern and tells her he can't see her tonight; she leaves angry. (7/31)

I. A Clean, Well Lighted Place (7/25)

Clerk: "Floor, table, wall, hanging, halogen, decorative, reading, hall, or bedside?"
Roy: "I'll have to think about it."

Carly: "You probably want something simple, right?"
Roy: "You know about this stuff?"
Carly: "I took a couple courses in design, decorating, you know."
Roy: "Well, I don't want to decorate anything. I just want a lamp."

Carly: "Oh, and you know what? Anything that has a red tag, it's on sale, so look for that."

Roy: "You know, uh--actually, Carly, I sort of had my eye on this, actually."
Carly: "You like it? It's 50% off."
Roy: "Well, you know, it's ok, right?"
Carly: "Yeah. Why don't you get two."
Roy: "Yeah, there's--there's--well, I only need one, so--no, you know, two would be good. That's the same, right?"

Carly: "Was that so tough?"
Roy: "Actually, it wasn't as painful as I expected."

Roy: "Where did all this stuff come from?"
Bobbie: "Why are you with my daughter?"

Carly: "What'd you do, mom, clean out the whole brownstone room to room and the garage?"
Bobbie: "Your room may be next."
Carly: "Well, Roy, you know, I hope you don't mind living with other people's stuff."
Bobbie: "Bye, Carly."

Bobbie: "You hate it, don't you?"
Roy: "No, how could I hate it? You--you really went all out."
Bobbie: "You deserve to have a real home."
Roy: "Well, thanks. I appreciate that."
