Sonny and Carly (cont.):
Carly: "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought up the baby."
Sonny: "Then why did you?"
Carly: "I lost my temper. I'm sorry. Sometimes I just--words come out of my
mouth and I don't even know what I'm saying. You know how I am."
Sonny: "There is no excuse for using our child as ammunition against Elizabeth.
You know that."
Carly: "I know. I do. Sonny, it won't happen again. I'm sorry."
Carly:
"I came here because my own mother wants to throw Michael and I in the streets,
and I thought, you know, maybe I could move back in."
Sonny: "Oh."
Carly: "But I got so fixated on the whole stupid idea that I was in the kitchen
making us a meal. Don't worry, I put all your stupid pots and pans back where
I got them, basically."
Sonny: "I didn't say anything."
Carly: "It's fish."
Sonny: "Hmm. Hmm."
Carly: "I was arranging it all nice and pretty on your stupid china when I heard
voices out here. And I walk out, and I see, you know, you're snuggling up with
the little tramp."
Sonny: "You know, forget the names right now, ok? Elizabeth's going through a
rough time. She's a sweet girl, and I'm just trying to help."
Carly: "She cries on your shoulder and she's a sweet girl? She's a nice, sweet
little girl? I show up here and I'm destroyed, and you call me a slut and take
me to bed? So, what, that's the difference between us? Elizabeth's a sweet little
angel, and I'm trash?"
Sonny: "I'm not buying into this, Carly. I'm not, so--"
Carly: "You're right. You can't really compare the two anyway--a girl you respect
versus a girl that you think is trash. What was I, just an incubator for your
baby?"
Sonny: "Oh--"
Carly: "Because then you were going to marry me, and now I'm so much dirt?"
Sonny: "You're the one who walked out of here. And every time I've seen you since,
you're picking a fight--with Bobbie, with Hannah, even with A.J. Now with Elizabeth.
But you're not going to do it with me! Where you're leading, I'm not going."
Carly: "Hey! In case you didn't notice, I'm not dragging you anywhere! I let you
go, Sonny. You know, you've been spared the responsibility of being with a woman
who's not good enough for you. So you don't have to walk into any more restaurants
cringing because you know what people are thinking."
Sonny: "Aw, see--"
Carly: "No, you know, you're free. You're not trapped anymore, Sonny, and that's
probably the one good thing that came out of all this. You want to be with that
little twit, little airhead, bore yourself stiff? Then you do it. Enjoy. Michael
and I are going to move on."
Johnny: "Are you expecting anyone tonight?"
Sonny: "No, not tonight."
I'm going to break my "you gotta catch up" rule and add a comment here. This
was a beautiful shot of Sonny, moving steadily back from a close-up until he seemed
lost there at the end of the long table.
