Letter from the Editor

Happy New Year, and welcome to the General Hospital Review!
We've made our resolutions for this year, and we're keeping one of them by
bringing you lots of good stuff in this issue. In addition to "GH in Review,"
we've got Port Charles Herald stories from Judy in "From the Files," a
trivia quiz from Arda, "Quick Takes" from me and Joan, a new poll, and lots of
goodies in "Say Cheese!"--including a photo feature on David Lewis, who played
Edward Quartermaine before John Ingle. There's also a letter from a reader this
month, and we encourage you all to write in with your opinion this year. Finally,
we have three featured websites, each dedicated to a different actor on our show.
So enjoy, and thanks for starting your year with us!
GH in Review

This month we cover episodes from July and August. While we're many months
behind, we hope to catch up in the near future to our typical 2-month delay. At
this point, we have no plans to skip any episodes. Though my commentary will remain
scarce, most sections include round-table comments from our editors, and there
are photos throughout.

ABC website and r.a.t.s.a. Thanks also to everybody on the GH side
of the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.tv.soaps.abc for their discussion of the show,
and to the other editors, whose discussion always informs my own opinions and
makes the show so much more fun to watch.

From the Files: The Port Charles Herald

This column is a combination of history and fan fiction in which we reproduce
(with our tongues planted firmly in our cheeks) the documents that we might find
in the various filing cabinets and safes throughout Port Charles.
This month, Judy's taking a slightly different slant and offering up two recent
stories from the local newpaper. So pull up the chexmix, hand me the comics, and
enjoy.

It's been a long time since we've had a letter to the editor, and we're
pleased to present this alternate take on Elizabeth. At the time we wrote our
comments for last issue's "GH in Review," we were concerned that Elizabeth was
becoming a Robin replacement (a topic we take up again--in a manner that would
better please this reader, I think--in this month's review). In response, this
letter addresses the character of Elizabeth, comparing her to both Robin and Carly.

This month we're featuring sites for three GH men. First up, Chad
Brannon, new to the show, who plays Zander Smith. "ChadBrannon.net" is a well-designed
site (though I can't get to the "no frames" option on my browser at press time)
featuring a photo gallery, resume, and message board.

Next, here's a fan site dedicated to A Martinez, who plays Roy DiLucca. It's
simple but cleanly designed, and site houses over 60 articles on A, as well as
photos and links to other sites, including A's official page.

Finally, here's the official page for John J. York, who plays Mac Scorpio.
It has all the usual goodies (including some a good multimedia selection of mostly
recent items) in an easy-to-navigate design, and spotlights a message from York.
