I. What's a Little Mugging Between Friends? (8/8)

A.J.: "I tell you, this guy's not the Einstein of muggers."

A.J.: "Ok. What are you doing? That is a family heirloom!"
Hannah: "You know what? Time to retire it. Come on. I'm taking you back to your hotel. Let's go."
A.J.: "Oh, really? That's the best offer I've had in weeks."

Hannah: "Look, are you ready to file an official report on the mugging?"
A.J.: "No. It was my fault as much as his. I left myself wide open."

Hannah: "Don't you care what happens to you?"
A.J.: "No. Not really. See, the handy thing about my chosen vice is it allows me to live a little distance from my body. Like watching a movie about someone else."

Hannah: "How many times do I have to spell it out for you, A.J.? You and I are friends, nothing more."
A.J.: "I got to be honest with you. That kiss didn't feel like 'friends.'"

Hannah: "I don't get it. You have everything going for you. And yet you wake up every morning dead set on deliberately ruining your life."
A.J.: "Actually, I woke up hoping to get you alone. And here we are. So I'd say my life is going amazingly well."

Hannah: "Look, the only reason why I brought you here was because I was concerned for you as a friend."
A.J.: "Hey, you keep saying that enough and maybe eventually you will believe it."

A.J.: "No, you don't. Hannah, I'm an expert on pity. I see it in my family's eyes all the time. Your eyes? I see something different. Your guard's up. You'll do anything to keep from admitting it. But it's there. So go on. What would you like to call it? Hmm? Fascination?"
Hannah: "Do not expect me to bail you out again, all right? From now on, you're on your own."

A.J.: "Oh. Not for long. Not for long."

II. AJ Gets Himself Arrested (8/9)

Taggert: "Does the J stand for Joseph or jerk?"

A.J.: "The worse you treat me, the nicer she's going to be to me. You see, she wants to save me. I just might let her."

A.J.: "You're right. I don't deserve Hannah. But neither do you. Yeah, you come closer. You're strong, sober, done everything you can to support her. You deserve her, lieutenant. You really do. But I'm going to let you in on a little secret. People don't always get what they deserve. Just ask sonny. He didn't deserve my son. Ask Carly. She didn't deserve to wreck my life. I played by the rules, and I lost everything. You know what? Now I play for what I want. I want Hannah."

A.J.: "You threatening me?"
Taggert: "No need to at this point. You're nothing but a charity case to Hannah."
A.J.: "Lieutenant, never underestimate a woman's charitable impulses. It can get you a long, long way."

Hannah: "In the meantime, you better eat something. It's a lot better than what you'll get in lockup."
A.J.: "Well, thank you, Agent Scott. I'm awfully touched by your charity. "

Mac: "This F. Scott Fitzgerald act is getting tired. Take it someplace else, or the next time you're arrested it'll stick."

Hannah: "Well, I like circus clowns, too, but I wouldn't necessarily want to date one."
Taggert: "I'm glad we got that straight."

Amy: "This talk about deserving Hannah reminded me of a line AJ had a few weeks back (I think). He talked about letting Hannah save him. And I remember wondering if he thought that, if Hannah tried, he could stop drinking so as to let her save him from drinking. I wondered if he thought he had it under control. He keeps talking about liking it, wanting to do it, and I keep waiting for 'I could stop if I wanted to' to come out of his mouth. I still wonder about his control over his drinking--how much is show and how much real addiction?"
