General Hospital Review
I. A Game Gone Wrong (8/7)

Carly: "You're good."
Roy: "I bet you are, too."

Mike: "They're way past flirting."
Sonny: "Sure looks that way, doesn't it?"

Roy: "You--you started this."
Carly: "I know. That's why I'm saying we should be very careful because sometimes when I get started I'm not very easy to stop."
Bobbie: "Carly, get your hands off him."

Carly: "Can we just go outside for a minute?"
Bobbie: "I promise, you don't want to step outside."

Bobbie: "You took Tony, but you are not taking Roy."

Sonny: "Roy was just teaching her a lesson."

Carly: "What, this was all a scam?"

Carly: "They are lying. Can't you see that? He was coming on to me."

Bobbie: "Fun? You call this fun, hitting on my daughter?"

Roy: "You know what I mean."
Bobbie: "Don't count on it."

Carly: "Yeah, so why don't you go out and come back in again? Maybe Roy and I can give it another shot and get it right this time. What do you say, Roy?"
Sonny: "That's enough."
Carly: "Don't you touch--"
Sonny: "Ok, either you calm down, come to my table, or I'm going to have Johnny drive you home."
Carly: "Home? That's funny. 'Home.'"

Bobbie: "What about you, Roy? You want to take her home?"

Carly: "Oh, give me a break, Sonny. You were all for it until she actually walked in."
Sonny: "Roy was just kidding."
Carly: "Well, I'm glad that you two find me so amusing."

Sonny: "You did all this because I rented Jason's apartment?"
Carly: "I'm a slut, remember? What did you expect?"
Sonny: "Why do you do that?"

Sonny: "The disagreement was between the both of us. It had nothing to do with him."
Carly: "Well, all you ever do is try to control me, tell me to eat. It's true. Besides, he reminds me of Jason."
Sonny: "Oh, really? You don't even know Roy."
Carly: "Well, he doesn't try to control me, and he listens."
Sonny: "Oh. He's the love of your mother's life."
Carly: "For this week, yeah."
Sonny: "Why do you say stupid stuff?"
Carly: "Why would you guys make fun of me?"
Sonny: "I'm not making fun of you. All I'm saying is I want you and Michael to live someplace where you're going to be happy. That's all."

Carly: "I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself and Michael and Roy Dilucca, too, if that's what I want."

Carly: "Roy, you can't just let her walk away like that."
Roy: "Can I get you something?"
Carly: "She loves you."
Roy: "Don't worry about me and your mom."
Carly: "Look, she waited most of her life for you. You can't just let her walk out like that. Come on."
Roy: "We'll work it out later."
Carly: "How? You going to say the opposite of how you feel by letting yourself lose the one person that you really love more than anybody in the world? Why can't you just admit how much you need her?"
Roy: "You'll forgive me if I'm a little confused, Carly. Are you talking about me and Bobbie or you and Sonny?"

Sonny: "If I take you to the brownstone, you think Bobbie will let you in?"
Carly: "She knows I was just kidding."
Sonny: "You know, if there's any problem, I mean, you could always come--you know--"

Sonny: "Well, at least you know how to liven a place."

Carly: "You were right. I was trying to get back at you with Roy."
Sonny: "Maybe you were right, too."
Carly: "Maybe how?"
Sonny: "Well, I rented that apartment right out from under your nose."

Sonny: "Alexis is the best lawyer I ever had. The idea is to keep her happy."

Carly: "I still need a place to live."
Sonny: "You know what? Why don't you just go ahead--"
Carly: "Ok."
Sonny: "Come--you know--"
Carly: "Fine. I will--"
Sonny: "What?"
Carly: "I will look at some houses."
Sonny: "All right. That sounds like a great idea. Let's go."

Joan: "I know people are up in arms over Carly's flirting with Roy, and once again, I don't agree she was so horribly in the wrong. For what it's worth, Carly really didn't flirt with Roy so much as cast a line in the water to see if Sonny snapped at the bait. Once it became clear that Roy was picking up on her opening and running with it, she looked fairly alarmed. She was certainly way as hell, and had in fact begun to ask 'What about Bobbie?' when Bobbie marched up and began berating her, as usual. Had she not, I'm pretty certain the next turn of conversation would have been Carly challenging Roy about his feelings for her mother. Not that expect my interpretation to be accepted in the general consensus, but it is what I believe..."

Amy: "Agreed. And I think she flirted with Roy because she knew he'd be safe. We'd just seen how much she trusted Roy, and she also knows that Sonny saw her with Roy before. I think she hoped to put on a show, and it was a very weak attempt--rather like the first time she left the penthouse for the day. Terry pointed out when we talked about the initial scenes that Roy was playacting too, and Carly also immediately tried to make him go after Bobbie, wanting to make things right. Perhaps she was counting so hard on the fact that he wouldn't reciprocate, that it would only be a show, that this truly threw her."

"But Roy and Sonny cracked me up, especially Sonny at the table with Mike."

"I think that the scene didn't really work until we had the follow-up where Bobbie finally admitted that seeing Carly and Roy together reminded her of Tony. But even that doesn't make complete sense. Carly's not out to get her; Bobbie knows that she wants to get back together with Sonny; etc. Is it that she somehow recognizes that there are big problems in her relationship with Roy, just as there were underlying problems in her relationship with Tony before Carly came along? Is she making it about somebody else--Carly--rather than face her part in the trouble in her relationship with Roy? She certainly blames him enough for putting their relationship at risk, when she's the one causing most of the waves, as I can see it, by always assuming the worst, that he hasn't changed, etc."
